Here's an uncomfortable question for every hospice, mortuary, and funeral home:

Could you confidently tell every family that you took every reasonable step to protect their loved one after death?

Most organisations already have thoughtful processes in place to care for the deceased.

But who has access?

Staff change. Contractors come and go. External teams may work on your premises. Visitors move through your buildings.

We don't expect these people to cause harm.

But responsible safeguarding isn't about expecting the worst of people. It's about recognising that risks exist and putting sensible measures in place to reduce them.

Access by Flexmort helps hospices control access to the deceased, providing an additional layer of protection and accountability.

Discreet. Proportionate. Designed to support the care you already provide.
Would your current arrangements give you that reassurance?

Nobody expects it to happen.

Nobody working in a hospice, funeral home or mortuary wants to imagine that someone could harm a person in their care after death.

And nobody wants to believe that a member of staff, contractor or visitor could ever have bad intentions.

But safeguarding is about more than what we expect. It is about preparing for what we hope will never happen.

High-profile cases such as David Fuller have shown that, however rare, the risk is real.

Access by Flexmort provides an additional layer of protection for the deceased, helping hospices control who can access them and providing greater reassurance for families.

It isn't about distrusting your staff.

It is about protecting dignity, strengthening safeguards and being able to say that you took every reasonable step to protect the people entrusted to your care.

Because safeguarding doesn't stop at death.

A Pinchbeck family who have been fundraising in memory of a stillborn son have given another gift in his memory.

Chris and Emily Maltby-Gills’ son Wyatt Emrys was delivered 20 weeks early on September 8, 2024.

The Pennysuite at Boston’s Pilgrim Hospital had a ‘cold cot’ donated by another grieving family which allowed the couple to spend extra time with their son.

And since that moment they and other family members including’ Emily’s mum Alexandra have fundraised to provide hospitals that don’t have such equipment something similar.

The couple have already donated a CuddleCot to Bedford Hospital, and last week they donated a CuddleBlanket to the Amazon Children’s Ward at Peterborough Hospital.

Fundraising in the last year has included Emily running a marathon, a coffee morning and a quiz night.

The blanket is used for toddlers, older children and adults to cool their body without cooling the entire room, and giving families more time with their loved one.

Emily said: “To be able to give this CuddleBlanket in Wyatt’s name is wonderful. It not only keeps our son’s memory alive but it will help other families in a similar situation to ours, before they heartbreakingly have to say goodbye.

“This was invaluable to us when we lost Wyatt."

“To give back is comforting for us, as well as telling others that they are not alone on their journey.”
