🌟 We’re not alone in this!

All over the world, small recycling projects are turning plastic waste into beautiful things. From community-built benches in Kenya to tiles in Rotterdam, people are proving that waste is not the end.

We’re excited to bring that same spirit right here to Harwich & Dovercourt.

The movement is growing. And we’re part of it. 💚

🛠️ Update from Not One Use HQ!

This week, we’ve spoken with local businesses, viewed a potential space, and gathered more support from the community. Still no confirmed home yet, but we’re not giving up.

💬 In the meantime, please keep saving your Type 2 plastic lids and if you know of a space in Harwich & Dovercourt that could house a small workshop with power, water, and access, message us!

We’re inching closer, and your support means the world. 🌍

🕰️ Ever wonder how long plastic takes to break down?

Try this:
• A plastic bottle lid = 450+ years
• A single-use coffee lid = 500 years
• A milk jug = 1,000 years in some estimates

That’s why we believe in Not One Use, everything deserves more than just one life. ♻️

♻️ You put your plastics in the bin, but what happens next?

In most areas, recycling gets sorted, sometimes shipped across the UK or even abroad. Some of it gets recycled. A lot doesn’t.

That’s why local micro-recycling is so important. At Not One Use, we’ll be processing waste right here, creating useful products from plastic that might otherwise end up in landfill or the ocean.

Let’s make recycling more real and more local.

🔍 Look underneath your bottle lids, see a little triangle with the number 2 inside?

That’s HDPE, or Type 2 plastic — one of the most recyclable and durable plastics out there.

You’ll find it in:
• Milk bottle lids
• Detergent and shampoo caps
• Juice and cleaning product lids

At Not One Use, HDPE will be the first plastic we recycle. It’s tough, safe to melt, and incredibly useful. 💪

👉 So, check your lids. Rinse them. Save them. And help us make waste work!

🔨 Ever wondered what we’ll actually do once Not One Use finds its home?

Inside our future workshop, we’ll be collecting local waste materials, starting with plastic bottle lids and giving them a second life. Using small-scale machines, we’ll shred, melt, and mold plastic into useful new products. Think: coasters, plant pots, tiles and more.

It will be a space for making, learning, and imagining a better future.

We’re still looking for the right space in Harwich or Dovercourt to get started, but this is the vision.

♻️ We’re Now Collecting Type 2 Bottle Lids in Harwich! 🧴

While we work on setting up official drop-off points, Not One Use will be doing local collections of clean Type 2 plastic bottle lids (HDPE) in the Harwich area, up to Tesco Express, Tollgate.

These lids are our first raw material, and we need as many as possible to kickstart production once our workshop is ready!

🔍 What we’re collecting:
• Bottle tops with a ♻️2 (Type 2, HDPE)
• Usually found on milk bottles and soft drinks
• Please give them a quick rinse before saving

📦 Got a stash ready to go?
Message us here on Facebook, Instagram or email [email protected] and we’ll arrange a local pickup.

This is a temporary system until we get official drop-off points in place. Thank you for being patient and for supporting this from the ground up. 🙌

♻️ CALLING ALL LID SAVERS! 🧴

As we work hard behind the scenes to find a home for Not One Use, we’re getting ready to start transforming waste into something wonderful and we need YOUR help!

🌟 Save your bottle lids!
Specifically, we’re collecting Type 2 plastic lids (HDPE) the kind you’ll often find on milk bottles, soft drink bottles, cleaning products, and more.

💡 Why?
Type 2 plastic will be the first material we work with in our workshop (once we secure a space!) to create brand new products from waste, with the goal of expanding into other materials soon after.

✅ What to do:
• Check your bottle lids, look for the number 2 inside the recycling triangle ♻️
• Give them a quick rinse
• Save them in a clean container or bag
• Hang onto them for now, we’ll announce collection points as soon as we’re set up!

Every lid counts. Your small action helps lay the foundation for a local circular economy and a cleaner future for all of us.

📢 Please share this with friends, neighbours, schools, and workplaces!
