Mind-Gap Leadership Development, Executive Coaching, Group Facilitation, Team Development, Accredited Training, Psychometrics & more.

Mind-Gap is passionate about unlocking that potential in people, teams, business & communities. To do this we use a range of tools including Leadership Training, Bespoke Training Courses, Team Development, Group Facilitation, Executive Coaching, Consultancy & Psychometric testing

But who we are is as important as what we do at Mind-Gap! We are committed to modelling a different kind of business that is established on our four unshakable values of:

Transparency: We will always be open and honest with you as to whether we are the best people to deliver what you need. We will never commit to doing anything we are not excellent at. Where we are the right people, we will be totally committed to fair and transparent pricing and review of the success of a piece of work. Authenticity: We will always do what we say we will do - plus you will typically get a lot more! There is nothing that excites us more than delivering a stunning return on investment for our customers! If you ever feel you have not got what we have promised you, we will always discuss this with you and rectify things immediately. Sustainability: Mind-Gap is well on the way to being carbon neutral by the end of 2022. We have taken two primary approaches to get there: (1) Partially offset our (current) carbon footprint year on year. Each year we reduce our carbon footprint by 2 tonnes by planting trees with Carbon footprint and (2) Continue to work on a further range of ways to be even kinder to the planet i.e. travelling as little as possible, maintaining our 'paperless' approach, reducing our electronic usage and much more. Generosity: We continue to reinvest a significant percentage of Mind-Gap's capacity (time and cash) into organisations and communities we love and that need it most. As a result we currently invest more than 20% of our time and profit in supporting two Charities in the UK and India that we helped established years ago. We will keep updating you on these charitable investments via our social media channels.

Is AI actually paying off for organisations?

According to McKinsey's latest global survey, 8 in 10 people say AI has made them more productive, yet only 37% of organisations can see any financial benefit.

The small group getting it right share one thing in common: strong, deliberate leadership. They redesign how work gets done, their leaders go first, and they look after the managers in the middle.

What kind of leader do you want to be? 🌳

While in India recently, Dave (our founder) stopped at the Big Banyan near Bangalore, one of the largest banyan trees in the country. One tree that grows up from its roots, sends its branches back down to the earth, and roots again. Until you can't tell the tree from the roots.

It's a picture of leadership.

We spend so much energy growing up: the business, ourselves, our impact. We rarely make time to put roots down, to reflect, to read, to think about how we could do this better.

But the roots are what hold us steady.

So here's the question for this morning: what could you do today to dig a little deeper?

5 years. 🧑

Five years ago we set out to close one gap: the distance between who people are and who they could be. It's why we're called Mind-Gap.

Since then: 138 courses, 768 training days, 6,777 learners, 290 coachees, 41 companies, 27 countries.

And the thing we're proudest of: 30% of our time and profit, given away every year.

To our clients and the organisations we support, thank you. Here's to the next five.

We usually call it "resistance to change".

More often, it's fear of loss, and that small reframe changes how we lead.

Our new blog explores how leaders help a team metabolise strain rather than just push through it: regulating yourself, helping people feel met, and anchoring the few things that stay steady when everything else moves.

Inspired by recent research from McKinsey & Company.

Includes a practical toolkit and five reflection questions πŸ‘‡

Two of the Mind-Gap team delivered some work in Chennai, India recently with the SEA Hydrosystems team, a precision hydraulics manufacturer whose cylinders power construction, mining and agriculture.

We used the metaphor of a working kitchen to help the team see the business as one service rather than a dozen separate jobs. In a busy kitchen, design writes the recipe, production works the line, quality is the pass where nothing leaves until it's right, and planning is the expediter timing every station so the whole dish lands together, hot. Our task was to help each department see how much its own timing depends on the one before it, and the one after.

A great kitchen isn't a collection of great cooks, it's what happens when every station works as one, for the person waiting at the table. The team scored themselves against Mind-Gap's twelve characteristics of a high-performing team, then traced the value each department offers to real customers along the customer journey.

What stayed with us was the ownership in the room, including one manager's ambition to design the process so well that "SEA Hydro will sustain for years, even if I am not there."

Thank you, Ravi and the SEA Hydrosystems team.

Two of the Mind-Gap team delivered some work in Chennai, India last week with the 6S Consulting team.

We used the metaphor of an orchestra to help the 6S team see the need to play their own bespoke part while also working as one at the same time. 6S has a team of brilliant solo artists, bright young graduates who are super talented, and our task was to encourage those individual talents to play even more in harmony together.

A room full of brilliant soloists isn't necessarily a high-performing team, so we asked each department to consider what unique sound it brings to the overall symphony that 6S plays to its customers, from the conductor through to the rising stars waiting in the wings.

The team scored themselves against Mind-Gap's twelve characteristics of a high-performing team, then traced the value each department offers to real customers along the customer journey. The richest conversations were about the interplay between departments, how the ensemble holds together when the tempo picks up.

Thank you to Shiva and the team, we'll be following this ensemble with interest.

Leadership today can feel like you're constantly being pulled in different directions.

Deliver results, but protect wellbeing.

Adopt new technology, but keep people at the centre.

Move quickly, but make thoughtful decisions.

Our latest article explores why great leadership isn't about eliminating these tensions, it's about learning how to lead through them.

If you're looking for practical leadership ideas rather than management theory, we'd love you to have a read.

Small world! Our founder Dave Hider was at Heathrow this morning, on his way to India to deliver work for two Indian companies, and spotted not one but TWO Mind-Gap clients, ALSTOM on the rails, and the wonderful Charbonnel et Walker chocolates over in Harrods. One an old friend, one a newer face. No better reminder of why we do what we do: helping develop the leaders behind brands that genuinely make people's days a little better. πŸ’›

Great learning starts with the right environment.

We're currently delivering our ILM Level 5 Effective Coaching and Mentoring qualification, and our current cohort has been meeting at The Pavilion, run by the Friends of Castle Green.

The venue provides exactly what great coaching requires:

✨ Space to think
πŸ’¬ Better conversations
🌿 Time to reflect
🀝 An environment that encourages openness and learning

Leadership development isn't just about great content, it's about creating the right conditions for people to learn.

A huge thank you to the Friends of Castle Green for providing such a welcoming and inspiring place for our learners.

If you're looking for a venue for leadership development, coaching programmes or team away days, we'd highly recommend The Pavilion.
