Most have gone through very similar reactions and stages in the last 6 weeks. From the initial denial that something so far away will ever affect us, to in the space of one week realising that it’s here and is changing almost everything.

Great to start the year assessing more senior executives passing through the world-respected Business Coaching Academy.

For the last few years, I’ve been privileged to be an Associate of The BCA and only one of three external coaches who is invited in to assess the senior executives that are completing their qualifications & ILM accreditation.

Who’s challenging your 2020?

So it's a new year and most of us are motivated to make the next 12 months better than ever before. The BIG question is what has to change to make this year different?

If you do much the same in 2020 as you did in 2019, you shouldn't be that surprised that the outcomes will be much the same.

Significant changes in our thinking and performance are hard to achieve on our own and as we all know, just feeling motivated or having good intentions does not always deliver the results we would like.

It's no different to getting fit, losing weight or trying to adopt a new habit. If we attempt these things on our own we are far more likely to give up, not push ourselves as hard and fail to reach our goal than if we do it with others.

Change happens when we are challenged and is most effective when we are made accountable. Accountability comes from working with others and improving our performance simply can not happen if we stay in our comfort zone.

If you genuinely want 2020 to be different then you absolutely need to find the right partner to take you on that journey.

Maybe a friend who will run with you or wants to regularly go to the gym. A work colleague who also wants to give up smoking...

Or a business performance coach and mentor who will help you set some clear objectives, challenge your thinking, make you accountable and support you to ensure 2020 is the very best it can be.
