This little flower always stops me in my tracks. It’s a Christmas rose my mum gave me when I went to university and the pot it sits in is one she painted herself while she was in a hospice.
She passed away when I was still a student, so this plant has been with me through a lot of life. Different homes. Different seasons. Different versions of me.
Everything else in the garden is bare and the sky is grey, Then this pink flower appears, almost out of nowhere, bringing a bit of colour.
It always reminds me how much of what shapes us quietly stays with us. Not in big dramatic ways but just in the background.
I think that’s true in business too. So much of the confidence we build, the values we carry, the way we show up for others… comes from experiences people never see.
We don’t have to share everything, but we do get to choose what kind of energy, care and integrity we bring into the work we do.
This little flower reminds me of that every winter.
