Most manufacturers still haven’t heard of BICS, but it’s one of the biggest electricity‑cost relief schemes the UK has ever introduced.

BICS gives eligible manufacturers exemptions from three electricity policy costs:
- Renewables Obligation (RO)
- Feed‑in Tariffs (FiT)
- Capacity Market (CM)

For some businesses, this could mean up to around 25% off their electricity bill, plus a one‑off cash payment in 2027.

If you manufacture anything and use meaningful electricity, you should check your eligibility now.

The application window closes on 30 November 2026, so make sure you act quickly.

BICS applications are officially open. 📅

From today, 1st October, to 30th November, eligible manufacturers can apply for the British Industrial Competitiveness Scheme (BICS) - a scheme that could reduce electricity costs from 2027.

But eligibility isn’t as simple as being a manufacturer.

Your sector, the products you make, your site’s grid electricity consumption, and the evidence you can provide will all determine whether you qualify.

With applications now live, this is the perfect time to check where your business stands and start preparing what you’ll need.

What a fantastic morning at Shakespeare North Playhouse with Knowsley Chamber 👏

Today is Back British Farming Day!

At Bowring Park, our team uncovered and resolved historic water‑billing errors that had escalated to a £60,000 bill. After full investigation, supplier escalation and contract stabilisation, that bill was reduced to approximately £2,500.

Alongside this, we delivered more than £35,000 in annual energy savings through tariff restructuring, efficiency planning and AI‑supported monitoring.
