If you are a parent or carer of a child or young person with SEND, I would really value your thoughts.

Alongside my colleague Stimpson, I’m conducting research to help shape meaningful, affordable SEND support for families.

We know that navigating the SEND system can feel frustrating, exhausting and lonely. We also know that even when support exists, it does not always help with the reality of everyday life.

So we have created a short questionnaire for parents and carers.

We’d love to understand:

What support your child currently receiving
Where things feel hardest, at home or in education
What is helping
What feels missing
What kind of support would make the biggest difference

Your response will help us create support that is more practical, useful and grounded in what families actually need.

You can fill in the questionnaire here:

Thank you so much. Every response really does help.

Warm regards
Sarah

A quick reminder that there is still time to register for this evening’s Understanding Transitions at Home parent webinar.

It’s free, but you do need to register to join.

I’ll be talking about those everyday moments in family life that can feel surprisingly hard. The morning rush, after school, homework time, and bedtime.

Often, it is not the task itself that is difficult, but the transition around it.

In this short session, I’ll explore how pressure, nervous systems and transitions interact, and share some simple ways to create calmer, more manageable moments at home.

It’s taking place this evening from 7:15–8:00 pm, live online, and a replay will be available for everyone who registers.

If you are supporting a child through these moments, you would be very welcome to join.

Free Student Webinar: Understanding Yourself Before Exam Season

As exam season approaches, many students feel the pressure building.

It can show up as procrastination, overwhelm, difficulty concentrating, or feeling stuck when trying to start revision.

Often, it is not just about the work itself, but the transition into it.

This short webinar is designed to help students understand what happens when pressure builds and explore simple ways to manage focus, motivation, and exam stress.

Students will leave with practical ideas they can use straight away as they prepare for their exams.

Free to attend, but registration is required.

For many neurodivergent students, mock exams highlight challenges that have nothing to do with ability.
Focus, overwhelm, perfectionism, anxiety, working memory and sensory load can all play a part.
Coaching can help students understand their patterns and build personalised strategies that make learning and revision feel more manageable.
If your child is feeling discouraged after mocks, this is an excellent time to rebuild confidence and adjust their approach before the next exams.

The people I coach - adults, students and parents - often feel pressure to meet unrealistic December expectations. ‘Good enough’ is not giving up; it’s choosing balance over burnout. Small adjustments make the season more manageable.

Children often struggle in December because routines shift and sensory demands increase. Emotional dysregulation isn’t misbehaviour , it’s communication. Coaching helps parents create calmer routines, clearer expectations and consistent reassurance.
