Fridge or Coolbox? Fixed or Portable Hob? 🤔
There are lots of choices to make when creating your campervan, one of which is whether to have a simpler and cheaper system consisting of a coolbox and portable hob or a fitted system with a fixed hob and compressor fridge. Not sure, you can mix and match to suit your preferences!
We now have the above options across most of our kitchens. Pictured here is the Squall Kitchen which mimics the same set-up as our Helm Kitchen.
We’ve used a CADAC portable hob and Yeti Roadie coolbox above (with extra tall storage for wine, oil etc. at the back) ❄️🍷🍾
We love portable hobs as they can be used outside in sunny weather for a sociable camp set-up. When the bad weather arrives you can just move it all inside. But we also see the appeal of a fixed two burner hob which creates a kitchen that can rival one at home 🙌
For us, a compressor fridge wins over a coolbox in terms of performance and convenience. But if you don’t want to have an electrical system in your van, and want to keep things simple, we can also see the appeal of a coolbox!
