Rising waste costs and fly-tipping are on the increase — and the consequences for your business have never been more serious.
As disposal costs climb and fly-tipping incidents continue to rise across Scotland, the pressure on businesses to demonstrate responsible waste management is growing. Using an unlicensed carrier isn’t just an environmental risk, it’s a legal one. If your waste ends up fly-tipped and you can’t prove who you used, you could be held liable.
From 1 April 2026, new rules under the Environmental Authorisations (Scotland) Regulations (EASR) require all registered waste carriers and brokers operating in Scotland to display their SEPA registration number on all advertising, websites, vehicles, social media, everything.
That means it’s now easier than ever to check your contractor’s credentials before you even pick up the phone. No registration number visible? Walk away.
AWD Environmental specialises in hazardous waste management, from small van collections to full site clearances. Paints, chemicals, oils, resins, aerosols, lab chemicals, WEEE, and more. We’re fully registered, fully insured, and we put our number on everything.
