You'll figure out your ideal customer with time and experience. Until then, get better at what you do. Keep your eyes open and ask yourself "which customer would I clone 100 times?"

5 years feels like an eternity away. I think we have 5 year plans because of how common "where do you see yourself in 5 years?" is. Careers move in 5 year cycles but businesses can move so much quicker. It often takes so much more effort on many levels though.

It sucks losing momentum. It often means the stakes aren't high enough for us.
Its okay to be bad at something, it's not okay to quit. Do something.

"Destroying the competition" really means putting people out of business and I don't think most people want that.

To do that means destroying dreams, jobs and livelihoods.

Focus on yourself and what *you* can provide for *your* customers.

Most people only change when they almost die but we don't need to rely on tragedy to change our lives.

Here's a great exercise if you or your kids want to start a business but you're not sure what you'd like.

Look around the room. Think about how many businesses are involved.

Your job isn't to become a full-time content creator.
You've got a business to run.

Your job is to show enough of a presence so that when someone does show up, they see enough of *you* to feel comfortable and relatable.

Whatever that presence looks like will be up to you.

Ideal customers are for later. Starting out, you've not worked with enough people to know who's the ideal customer.

Have a general direction of customer and test your theories but don't get bogged down on the ideal customer. Keep your eyes open for who says yes quickly, pays largely and commits strongly.

I'm really not sure if "award-winning" businesses have any influence over customers.

Authenticity is standing your ground despite the consequences. You act as if there is no punishment.

But it's not a "normal" thing to do. And it means you're blending in and part of the crowd and that makes you forgettable.
