Purchases are supporting , who started the first Earth Day in 1970 and mobilized millions of Americans to consider their impact on the planet. It has grown into the largest civic event on Earth, activating billions across 192 countries to safeguard our planet and fight for a brighter future.

I don’t often put my face here, but I have been reading some horror stories about getting locked out of your social media and not being able to prove it’s your account, so here I am!

It’s also a good opportunity to introduce myself again as March is month started long ago by 😍

I’m Emma, an illustrator based in South London, UK. I started illustrating as my children got older after working as a graphic designer. It sounds ridiculous to say this out loud now that I’m in my 50’s, but my parents were from a traditional working background and would not support art as a career, even though, looking back, I have always been creating. So I have taken the long route to a creative career, starting slowly with some pet painting commissions, working out which materials I liked, chasing that elusive style. I discovered that I loved drawing birds and flowers in a pretty style that worked as decoration so in 2019 I created my first range of greeting cards and did my first trade show to explore and I have had some lovely shops supporting me and ordering from me for which I am so grateful. Imagining my cards out in the world, bringing joy to someone is still an adventure that I am learning - the patterns and flow of creating, reflecting and the importance of a positive mindset but I feel a shift happening that I am waiting to decifer! I decided to take a step back from the pressure of posting to social media this year for that reason but I love my community of fellow creatives and independent shops here.

It feels like it has taken a long time to get to this point and I am terrible at publicly celebrating my successes but I do have a few lovely projects this year that I will share when I can. Hence the new bio pic.

I’m stocktaking this week which is a laborious process as I have quite a lot of designs now but I can’t put it off any longer as I am running low on some designs and I need to place an order with my printer.

In the past, I did all the counting manually, writing on a piece of paper and then entered it into a spreadsheet, but this year I found a funky little app for my phone, which means I can just scan the barcode, enter the quantity, take a picture and then export in all to a spreadsheet. It’s still a boring job, but it’s going to take me half the time! Small wins!! It might be time to invest in a handheld scanner though.

The countdown is on! I’m upgrading free post to 1st class so you can still get you cards before Christmas, last orders by midday tomorrow and then doors and computers will be closed for the holidays for a much needed rest.

Orders of Christmas cards are heading out daily now. Perhaps everyone has heard about the campaign, which is encouraging us to send our Christmas cards early and take advantage of the second class stamp price freeze. For just 75p, your loved ones can enjoy their mantlepiece looking beautiful for longer 😍 Let’s all get sending!

Christmas orders are heading out from the studio today. It is still such a thrill when an order comes in and a shop has chosen my designs. I like to send a little thank you gift to show my appreciation, this one may or may not contain chocolate 👀

Thank you for a fascinating day yesterday following the litho process from proof to press. It was incredible to see so many cards in production in one place and follow my design around the factory.
