As well as training, we also offer training aids at competitive prices(which can be bought at training days or online). All training aids supplied are ones we

use on our own dogs and at all training days, if you wish to see items before ordering – just ask! We also offer customers a photography option with training days and other events, where by they can then purchase a CD with photos from the day.

Starting 28th June in Lauder

We’ve got three great 4-week training workshops designed to help you build real-life skills with your dog.

🐾 Impulse Control Workshop (9-10am)
Does your dog struggle to stay calm around people, dogs, toys, food, or other distractions? This 4-week workshop focuses on developing self-control and making better choices in exciting situations. Four weekly 1-hour sessions.

🐾 Loose Lead Walking Workshop (10-11am)
Tired of being dragged down the street? Over four weekly 1-hour sessions, we’ll focus on teaching your dog to walk calmly on a loose lead and helping you develop the skills to maintain it in everyday situations.

🐾 Recall Workshop (12-1pm)
A reliable recall can give your dog more freedom and make walks far more enjoyable. Across four weekly 1-hour sessions, we’ll focus on clear communication, engagement, and building a recall your dog wants to respond to.

Small group training, practical exercises, and plenty of support throughout.

Spaces are limited. Drop us a message to find out more or reserve your place. 🐕‍🦺🐾

HPR dogs Hunt, Point and Retrieve.

These dogs were bred to help hunters find and retrieve game.

They use their nose to hunt for scent.

When they find game, they stop and point towards it.

After the game is shot, they retrieve it and bring it back.

A quick focus game to try with your dog...

Hold a treat in your right hand and extend your arm out to the side.

Your dog will probably stare at the treat. That’s fine.

The moment they look away from the treat and make eye contact with you, reward from your left hand.

Repeat a few times, then swap sides and hold the treat in your left hand, rewarding from your right.

Changing arms keeps your dog thinking rather than simply learning a pattern.

It’s a simple little exercise, but it teaches your dog that paying attention to *you* is often the quickest route to the reward.

Perfect for building focus before moving on to more challenging training.

Have a go and let us know how your dog gets on.

Most people teach “leave it” by putting food on the floor and hoping the dog resists temptation.

I prefer to make it a game.

Take a dummy and bring it to life. Drag it along the ground, make it dart away, let your dog chase and engage with it. Then suddenly... play dead.

The moment your dog takes a step back, looks away or disengages from the dummy, mark that decision and immediately reward it by bringing the dummy back to life and restarting the game.

The reward for leaving it isn’t a biscuit.

The reward is access to the thing they wanted in the first place.

This teaches the dog that self-control makes good things happen. Rather than constantly saying “no”, we’re helping them discover that choosing to disengage is what keeps the game going.

Simple. Fun. Effective.

Have you tried using movement and access as a reward rather than food? 👇

Local residents, please don't forget about the public exhibition happening today at Longformacus Village Hall from 1pm-7pm. This is your opportunity to find out more about the plans for the data centre directly from the source. There will be information provided throughout the exhibition and you will have the ability to ask any questions you may have, as well as submitting a feedback form to the developers on your thoughts regarding the proposed plans.

🚨 OUR PETITION IS NOW LIVE 🚨

A huge industrial-scale data centre is being proposed for the Lammermuir Hills.

We believe this is the wrong development in the wrong place.

If you care about protecting Scotland's landscapes, wildlife, dark skies and rural communities, please sign and share.

Every signature matters.

Be honest, when an impulse control video pops up, do you watch it or scroll straight past?

As trainers, we probably post more of these than we should, but there’s a reason.

Impulse control isn’t about teaching a dog to sit and stare at something exciting. It’s about helping them make good decisions when they’re excited, distracted, frustrated or desperate to get moving.

For gundogs especially, that ability to pause, think and listen is what turns chaos into teamwork.

So while these videos might not be the most exciting thing on your feed, every calm wait, every steady retrieve and every choice not to launch themselves into the next county is a little win worth celebrating.

Now tell me honestly... watcher or scroller? 👇

Impulse control training goes beyond teaching your dog to wait. It’s about helping them make better choices, stay calm around distractions, and think before they act.

Every walk, every greeting, every squirrel ignored is another chance to practise making good decisions.
