As ‘A’ level and University results are being revealed, we as Parents, Grandparents and Teachers will be concerned about School Leavers’ and new Graduates’ job and career opportunities.
We have read that recruiters can’t fill jobs and many employers also say that some young people just don’t want to do hard work or work for long hours. Well, we believe that youngsters – sixth form leavers or recent graduates – may need a bit of extra help and most do want to work. Many have never been given good career advice. As Parents (or Teachers) there is something we can do to help but they will often NOT LISTEN to their parents as we all know! Further, few schools have Career Teachers anymore!
Here at McCannCoaching we have spotted a way to help young people embark on careers that are more suited their natural abilities and ambitions. In the adult workplace, many companies often use Myers Briggs and Disc profiling to help tease out their employee strengths. What about fresh starters?
We have now trialled using the LIFO Personality Style Profiling report to help sixth formers and others know themselves better, learn more about their natural skills, and spot areas where they could improve.
This LIFO method reveals how they might normally behave, but additionally indicates how this behaviour might change when they face pressures and stress (the real world where their idealism gets challenged). That helps them smooth out these bumps and cope better with occasional adversity and those difficult moments. And, excitingly, our work helps people know themselves and target jobs that will suit them better!
So, we as Parents, Grandparents or Teachers can therefore encourage and help young adults to gain a great advantage when job searching - by being more self-aware – so they can get that job!
Step 1 Get them to do a quick on-line LIFO assessment. We can arrange that fast.
Step 2 Provide them with a detailed report highlighting core skills and areas for improvement. This is accompanied by some gentle advice from us about areas to work on which might suit them better.
Steps 1 and 2 are tackled on-line and can be completed within a few days for a cost of just £100. This is great value as a gift.
Step 3 Give them a few subsidised coaching sessions to help them build great CV’s, to get to know their own strengths and likely careers to suit, and to interview well. Get them on the road - and differentiate. These can be one to one or arranged in a group workshop.
Here in the Three Counties, we have a very high proportion of retired and over 65’s, so we have many concerned grandparents and parents all wanting the help their youngsters.
So just ask us to help. Text or call with your enquiry to 07768 382334 or email to [email protected]
