SADDLE FITTING

Had a wonderful catch up with Sarah (who I haven’t seen in years!!) this week. She came out to check my horses saddles as my little TB started having some muscle pain in his lower back. Lo and behold his saddle was half an inch too long (he is tiny)!! This is why, as professionals we all need to work together. Today I have treated Eddie and now on the hunt for a new saddle🥳

Everyone Meet Parker ✨ Parker had acute onset of right forelimb lameness in May 2026, after injuring himself in the garden. His elbow was swollen and inflamed and he had an x-ray on the forelimbs to diagnose elbow flexor tendon enthesiopathy in the right forelimb (a condition where the soft tissues where flexor tendons or muscles attach to bone become damaged, degenerated, or mineralized). This injury/damage to the elbow has caused increased stress/weight on the lower limb and has resulted in carpal hyperextension with laxity in the distal limb digital flexor tendons! Parker is currently undergoing a rehabilitation plan and physiotherapy with me to target lameness and reduce the compensatory carpal hyperextension! Meet the lovely lady Rubie!! Rubie is an English pointer and is just over 13 years old😍 She has regular physio sessions for general mobility and hindlimb osteoarthritis, which includes massage, joint manipulation, low level laser therapy and her favourite part - rehabilitation exercises (because she gets lots of sausages)😍 Rubie is still running around the fields when she gets the chance and chasing her younger brother around! Incorporate leash/loose leash walking throughout your dog’s life so if they do need to be on the lead for whatever reason - they understand how to be!

Things you can do with your dogs whilst on shorted restricted exercise - Part 1 - lots of enrichment games and training can be done and they can still enjoy walks being on the lead until they recover! Hey guys, I thought I’d do a re-introduction since I probably have done one in about 4 years haha! 1st video - 2 weeks post R sided Hemilaminectomy T12-L1 after grade 2 intervertebral disc protrusion leaving Buddy paralysed in his hindlimbs. Very wobbly and severe ataxia - could not walk without the sling. 2nd and 3rd video - (2nd physio app) given proprioceptive exercises to increase nerve regeneration- can walk without sling although very ataxic still. 4th video - (3rd session) can walk without the sling!!!
