⚠️ Parents, this is a must-see before summer holidays start!
Would you be able to spot your child if they were underwater?

I saw this last year, and it stopped me in my tracks. The colour of your child's swimwear can make all the difference in an emergency, and I immediately changed what I was buying.

This isn't about scare tactics – it's about awareness. What you learn in 30 seconds could genuinely help save a life.

Please share this with your friends and parent groups.
It could be the most important thing they see all summer. 🏊‍♀️💛

Have you considered how visible your child would be under the water in different coloured swimsuits and trunks?

We share this graphic every summer as it's such a brilliant example of how a small change in what you dress your child in at the pool could make a huge difference.

The brilliant team at Aquatic Safety Connection has tested how different colours appear in various water types and states, such as swimming pools, choppy waters, and murky ponds and lakes.

You can see from this image that white and light blue are almost invisible to the eye when at the bottom of a pool with agitated water. Dark colours are visible but can sometimes be mistaken for shadows or pool equipment.

Something to consider when you are next shopping for summer swimwear, opt for bright and contrasting colours!

We finally did it… we got ourselves a hot tub!
we’ve been saying for ages we wanted to bring that holiday-home feel to the cottage, and we had this perfect little hideaway spot just waiting for something special.

Massive thanks to – honestly, they were brilliant. Super helpful with advice (because we had so many questions), and the whole install was totally seamless. Can’t fault them.

Kimi’s claimed it as his chill guy zone already, and Eliza? Living her best life. She’s got it nailed – bubbles, snacks, and full diva vibes!

And just to say – we paid for this. No ad, just wanted to shout out a great experience with a fab local business.

Now if you need me, I’m in a spa…

The world turned upside down… literally!
We were lucky enough to be invited to the by Liverpool ONE and wow – what an experience!

From the second we stepped inside, it was like entering a different dimension. The kids LOVED it, and I can honestly say I’ve never laughed so much while feeling slightly queasy – the illusion really does mess with your senses (motion sickness warning: it’s wild in the best way!).

Massive shoutout to the amazing staff – they didn’t just welcome us, they jumped right in with us, showing us all the best photo angles, how to set our phones (hello 0.5 lens hack!), and how to position ourselves so it looked like we were defying gravity. Think hands on ceilings, feet apart bent on the floor and a lot of giggles in between.

Top tips from the pros:
• Use the 0.5 wide angle setting to capture the full upside-down effect
• Make sure the ceiling and floor are both in frame
• Interact with the items – pretend you’re holding on or walking on the ceiling!
• Don’t rush – the staff are fab and happy to help you get that perfect shot

It’s two floors of full-on fun, and for the ticket price? Such great value.
If you’re heading to Liverpool with the kids – this is a must. Easy to find, packed with photo ops, and SO much fun.

We’ll definitely be back.
Another brilliant find for family adventures in Liverpool!

We had an amazing day in Liverpool yesterday! Despite the grey weather, there was so much to explore. 🌧️ First stop: Yellow Submarine soft play for some action-packed fun, followed by a magical Aladdin treasure hunt, solving puzzles and finding hidden letters! 🧩 Then a quick lunch break and a snapshot with Paddington (right outside Waterstones!). 📸 Afterward, we popped into the Lush store for some Halloween bath treats, before capping it off with Light Night! 🎆 So much to keep the little ones entertained this half term in Liverpool city centre! 🏙️

This little girl is a bit under the weather.

She has been seen by a Dr and diagnosed with Tonsillitis. A common infection that many of us have had. She is being treated with antibiotics and painkillers and is back at home with mum to get better.

❌She is also developing life threatening Sepsis.❌

Could you tell? Could you spot the clues?

Sepsis is a life-threatening reaction to an infection. It happens when your immune system overreacts to an infection and starts to damage your body's own tissues and organs. Sepsis is sometimes called septicaemia or blood poisoning. It is a medical emergency and must be treated quickly.

Fortunately for this little girl her mum noticed the "mottled skin" that you can see here in the picture on the girls hand and she was treated promptly.

Aside from mottled skin, other signs and symptoms in babies and children include:

* Fever or feels abnormally cold
* Breathing quickly/sucking in around ribs
* No urine passed for over 12 hours
* Very sleep/drowsy
* Vomiting/Diarrhoea

If you think someone might be developing sepsis call 999 or take them to A and E

We are proud partners of The UK Sepsis Trust and update our CPD on the subject every year.

If you would like to improve your first aid knowledge why not attend one of our baby and child first aid classes? You can book a class here: https://nottingham.minifirstaid.co.uk/classes/classes-for-parents-carers
