These adjustable long handled micro fibre duster are something I couldn't live without while cleaning. Extend it and you can dust around your light fittings and get any cobwebs down. It's also great for skirting boards. You can pick them up quite cheaply and they are definitely worth having.

Modern showers have these contraptions as a plughole. After cleaning the shower trap and cover leave some water in the bottom. The little cup at the bottom is the equivalent of a U bend trapping all the drain smells from escaping into your bathroom. A drop of disinfectant in there will leave a nice aroma too.

Anybody who has a wet floor shower room knows that the floor discolours in time due to the textured surface. This floor has been down for over fifteen years and I've tried everything on it.

I've used Cif which looks great to start with then it goes grey. I've steamed it which was great for getting the grey Ciff off. I've spray mopped it which made at least smell nice.

Then I bought this rubber long handled brush with a squeegee on one side. Use Elbow grease spray, a sq**rt of washing up liquid and disinfectant then brush firmly. Rinse with plenty of clean water then squeegee the floor dry. It's the best results I've seen yet!

People regularly ask what do you clean windows with. Following on from my last post I use cheap washing up liquid and piping hot water. Ask your window cleaner and if he's honest he uses it too.

Professional window cleaners also use a good quality squeegee. I use an Unger squeegee and they are an absolute godsend. I finish off with a scrim (buffing cloth). I have a trug full of cloths for buffing. I use cheap facecloths washed in a boil wash never use fabric conditioner on them. A cloth with a slightly rough texture is great for a multitude of cleaning tasks. I use microfiber but I don't rate them for buffing.

I've been cleaning since 2013 and I'm going to start sharing some top tips on a regular basis. I hope you find them helpful.

TOP TIP: Washing up liquid isn't just for cleaning dishes. It's great for cleaning your bath and wash basin. Expensive bathroom cleaners cost far more but washing up liquid cuts through grease and grime with ease. I use cheap washing up liquid (you don't need Fairy liquid) and a bathroom cleaner combo for a fresh smell and a beautiful finish. Try it and let me know if it works for you.

I'm having a day off today and cleaning my own house. It's true what they say about busman's holidays. I'm sure people think my house is spotlessly clean and tidy when it's just like everyone else's. I've given my house the same depth of cleaning I do for my customers. It looks beautiful 😍 (she say's modestly).

On my way round I find things that need fixing. Nothing too big but some of my more mature customers struggle to do little jobs. I've done a little bit of picture hanging then last week I fixed a IKEA chest of drawers with a dropped track and a saggy drawer. After searching for a screwdriver and a suitable screw I decided it was time to equip myself with a little toolkit.
