One of the biggest things I see holding business owners back isn’t making the wrong decision.

It’s delaying a decision that probably needed making weeks ago.

Very few business decisions are permanent.

Most can be adjusted, refined or reversed if necessary.

But while you’re waiting for certainty, the business often stands still.

Progress usually comes from making sensible decisions, learning from the outcome, and adjusting where needed.

Is there a decision you’ve been putting off recently?

Many business owners spend their time reacting to problems.

The challenge is that by the time something becomes urgent, you’re already on the back foot.

The businesses that tend to perform best are usually the ones that deal with things before they become problems.

Consistent marketing.

Regular financial reviews.

Simple systems and processes.

None of it is particularly exciting.

But it often makes running a business much easier.

What area of your business do you wish you’d tackled sooner?

Most business owners can list ten things they’d like to improve.

The challenge is that trying to improve all ten at once often results in very little progress anywhere.

The businesses that tend to move forward fastest aren’t necessarily doing more.

They’re focusing on the right thing at the right time.

If you could only improve one thing in your business over the next month, what would it be?

One of the most common things I see amongst small business owners is being busy all day, every day… but still feeling like the business isn’t moving forward as quickly as they’d like.

The reason usually isn’t a lack of effort.

It’s that all of their time is being spent working IN the business, rather than ON it.

Serving customers, delivering work and keeping everything running is important.

But creating time to step back, review what’s happening and improve the business is often where real progress comes from.

What’s one thing you’ve been meaning to work ON in your business?

One of the things people often find hardest to believe is that I was still working while I was in hospital with COVID.

Mum dropped my laptop off and I was trying to keep on top of things from the ward.

At the time it felt completely normal.

I think that’s just how many small business owners are wired.

I’ve shared the full story on YouTube if you’d like to hear what happened next.

After working with hundreds of small businesses, I've noticed certain patterns show up again and again in the businesses that make progress.

They aren't always the most talented.

They don't react to everything.

They focus on consistency.

They're selective about opportunities.

And they keep moving forward, even when things aren't perfect.

More often than not, successful businesses are simply doing fairly ordinary things extraordinarily consistently.

Which of these patterns stands out most to you?

11/06/2026

You don't have to say yes to every opportunity to grow a successful business.

One thing I've noticed after working with hundreds of small businesses is that successful business owners become more selective over time.

Not because they care less.

Because they're clearer on where they're trying to get to.

Instead of chasing every opportunity that appears, they pause and ask:

"Does this support the direction I'm heading in?"

If it does, they pursue it.

If it doesn't, they move on.

The businesses that make progress aren't usually trying to do everything.

They're focused on doing the right things consistently.

What's something you've become more selective about in your business?

10/06/2026

You don't need to do more in your business — you might just need to be more consistent.

One of the most common patterns I see in successful businesses is consistency.

They're not necessarily working harder than everyone else.

They're not always the most talented.

But they tend to have a clear direction, a plan, and a consistent approach to the things that matter.

They're marketing regularly.

Following up opportunities.

Reviewing their numbers.

Planning ahead.

And using systems and processes to support how they work.

It's often the small actions, repeated consistently, that create the biggest results over time.

What's one thing in your business you'd like to be more consistent with?

09/06/2026

You don't need to react to everything that happens in your business.

One thing I've noticed after working with hundreds of small businesses is that struggling businesses often make decisions based on how they feel in the moment.

A quiet week suddenly means the marketing isn't working.

One difficult customer suddenly means the service needs changing.

A competitor launches something new and suddenly they're questioning their entire direction.

Successful businesses tend to take a different approach.

They know where they're headed, they monitor their progress, and they make decisions based on facts rather than emotions.

Not every setback needs a dramatic response.

Sometimes you just need to stay the course.

Have you ever caught yourself reacting to something that probably didn't need reacting to?
