We’re sharing a simple but important tip for anyone running diesel generators.

Blow‑by gases from the engine crankcase carry a fine oil mist. If the breather pipe ends inside the canopy or plant room, that mist slowly coats the radiator, alternator, and filters, trapping dust and blocking cooling air. The result is extra cleaning, more shutdowns, and less reliable power.

A few practical checks:

• Route the crankcase breather outside the enclosure if possible.
• Avoid pipe low spots where oil or water can pool.
• Keep the pipe short and wide enough so crankcase pressure stays within the engine maker’s limit.
• Consider an oil‑mist separator only if the manufacturer allows it.

This small detail in installation can make your generator room cleaner and your engine safer over the long term.
