It was a real privilege to collaborate with local artist Kate on this striking piece, created for an upcoming exhibition in Birmingham ❤️

Kate’s portrait is painted in egg tempera — one of the oldest and most disciplined techniques in art history. Known for its precision, luminosity, and delicate layering, it’s a method that predates oil painting and demands real craftsmanship.

Painted on 20mm plywood, the artwork itself has real presence and weight — so strength in the framing was key.

To complement the piece, we designed a bold, bright blue tray frame with a floating mount. The aim was simple: give the artwork space to breathe while making the colours sing. The result is a clean, contemporary finish that really lets the portrait take centre stage.

We also incorporated rebated corners to add strength and rigidity to the structure — ensuring the frame not only looks sharp but is built to last.

Always great to work on something a little different — and even better when it’s heading out to be seen and appreciated.

This was our last shot of the day, something a little different for them ❤️
Hopefully we can give them a nice piece of wall art from this image

Probably my last post from my little Iceland recap 🇮🇸

Rhino Rock under the northern lights.

In full transparency, this is a composite — the aurora was captured a few days later and carefully layered into this scene to recreate the magic.
Iceland still never disappoints. 💚💜

Feeling incredibly lucky to have witnessed — and captured — the magic of the Aurora Borealis a few times.
These shots were taken from a small layby/car park in South East Iceland, where the lights were so strong and vibrant they were clearly visible to the naked eye ❤

There’s nothing quite like standing under a sky that dances in green and purple waves — a moment you never forget 💚

Without a doubt, one of the most amazing locations I’ve visited in Iceland — Rhino Rock.

This incredible sea stack sits just off the eastern shore of the Vatnsnes Peninsula. Its dramatic shape has sparked plenty of imagination — some see a rhino drinking from the ocean, local legend even tells of a petrified troll turned to stone by the rising sun.

Standing there, with the waves crashing around it and seabirds circling above, it’s easy to see why this place leaves such an impression. Wild, raw, and unforgettable.

Iceland never stops amazing me.

Arctic Henge had always been on my list — and I finally got the chance to visit during a recce trip with

The day we were there was pretty overcast, so we didn’t get to see the full magic of the light — but even under grey skies, the scale and atmosphere of this place was incredible. It’s definitely somewhere I’d love to return to.

Located in Raufarhöfn, Iceland’s northernmost village, the Arctic Henge is a striking modern monument inspired by Old Norse mythology and pagan beliefs. Designed as a giant sundial and calendar, its massive stone arches align with the midnight sun, capturing and framing the light in a powerful way.

Meet Hvítserkur — Iceland’s legendary “Rhino Rock”
This 50-foot basalt sea stack rises from the eastern shore of the Vatnsnes Peninsula, shaped by centuries of relentless marine erosion. It truly looks like a giant rhino taking a drink from the sea!
Folklore claims it is a petrified troll caught by the sun while trying to destroy a nearby convent
Check out the photographers on the beach for a sense of scale — nature’s architecture is absolutely mind-blowing.

Kirkjufell — the iconic “Arrowhead Mountain” from Game of Thrones 🏔️

Rising above Grundarfjörður on Iceland’s Snæfellsnes Peninsula, this uniquely shaped peak is often called the most photographed mountain in Iceland — usually captured with the beautiful Kirkjufellsfoss waterfall beside it.

I’ve been lucky enough to see it wrapped in deep snow, where the waterfalls disappear into a frozen white landscape… and also without snow, when the falls flow freely beneath the mountain. Two completely different scenes, both equally breathtaking.

Iceland truly is an amazing country — raw, powerful, and endlessly changing. ❄️🌊
