It was great to be part of the Tech Care podcast with Jane Townson of the Homecare Association with hosts Morten Mathieson of Sekoia and Sanghamitra Chakravarty of InviqIQ discussing the following:

- How technology can support care
- Differences between private and local authority
- The importance of understanding the why.

Nerves are good though and I know it's because I care deeply about this subject.

I'm known for being a bit noise sensitive!

The next door neighbour is having their driveway resurfaced and the constant noise has been going on since early this morning. I couldn't take it anymore and concentration was impossible so have come out for a walk. Arthur thinks it was a great idea!

I'll finish my work this evening.

Really looking forward to this. There is so much innovation and new ideas being brought to fruition within the whole range of care both at the centre and the periphery.

What has to be at the centre of any new innovation is the person for who a service or innovation is for. This goes for care providers, local authorities, technology providers, GP's, healthcare professionals, the list goes on. Some of these will be explored next week on

There is a huge shift towards new technology but it's confusing and hard for care businesses to see the wood for the trees and make the right decision.

Some key questions and considerations here together with a framework that will enable you to make the right decisions.

Key questions to ask:

1. How will this technology benefit my business? e.g. ROI

2. How will this technology benefit my clients/residents/individuals? e.g. enhance their lives

3. How will this technology benefit my employees? e.g. enhance employee experience

4. Is this technology digitally enabled?

5. How easy is it to leave this technology provider both in terms of data extraction and contract?

6. Can it/will it talk/communicate with other technology providers?

Yesterday I was discussing new models of care and I was also judging some entries of home care providers.

There are a few exceptional home care companies who are breaking the mould. I am honestly excited about the future of care when I read what is being achieved now through creativity and innovation. They have really understood what needs to change and creating fabulous client services through care and technology.

I do have a concern though. Some of the new enquiries from newly registered businesses I speak to do not understand what it is to run a great care business. They are still working off the old model. In my honest opinion Care Quality Commission need to really understand what a great care business and model looks like.

👉👉 New blog post!

Can't believe it's been over two months since I wrote my last one.

This is about how focusing on your client experience enables you to attract private clients.

I saw this image on LinkedIn last week and it really made me think about the difference between customer service and experience. Both are important but they achieve different outcomes.

The blog takes you through the process.

Find out why and how to deliver an outstanding experience to attract private home care clients. Read the blog here to find out more.

Want to treat your business this valentine's day?

These workshops are a fantastic way for home care businesses or care homes to enable you to attract private clients.

The care businesses I work with have one thing in common. They have all realised that focusing on council clients means they are under significant pressure to deliver a service that is viable for them.

By designing a client proposition, with a plan to market to them, enables you to articulate your value so clients will be able to make the choice to use your services. This means you stand out from other care businesses in your area.

It also means you can design services that give clients what they want, not what councils think they need.

Great to be featured in this month's Institute of Health & Social Care Management 💚🏳️‍🌈 The Loop (Page 60), where I have outlined different care models. There are a lot of changes happening now.

Innovation and creativity are needed within care. We have to stop working off old models and start looking at what new models are in place now.

I've not sent Christmas Cards again this year, instead have donated to a local hospice (St David's) who have helped so many in this community.

I particularly enjoyed doing this one. Gotta love a cute dog video.

Sometimes the future is easy to predict.

Last week I walked passed these trees and said to my husband "This time next week one of these trees will have come down". We knew the storm was coming and the trees were all teetering.

This is what happens when people don't see the value, or decide not to invest in prevention. If the council had pruned the trees, they could have not only been saved but continued to thrive for future generations to enjoy.

I can't help but see the parallels in social care. These trees cannot be fixed now they are broken. Investment in prevention strategies are critical. These have the capacity to save enough money to then provide the significant investment needed in primary care.
