Happy new year everyone! Sorry for my silence. I have had some time off with my family in beautiful South Africa and now looking forward to the gorgeous weddings, family and bump to baby photo shoots! Bring it on!

As a mama to a winter baby I know how tricky those winter birthdays can be. No big BBQ birthday get togethers, no pool parties or bouncy castles. Us winter baby mama's have to get creative and are destined for a lifetime of indoor birthday parties.
I think my fellow winter mamas to be out there deserve a wee bit of a break so I'm offering all of them a totally awesome free pregnancy photoshoot for those winter newborns who book a newborn photo session with me!

As a natural light portrait photographer, winter can be a dreary time of year. Gone are the lovely summer evenings of gorgeous golden light and the gorgeous backdrops of autumn. Typically winter is slow and dull in the life of a non studio portrait photographer. I wanted to be able to offer my clients an alternative to those typical family portraits that we have all come to love and expect. Introducing "This is Your Life", Andrea Alvares Photography, Lifestyle Sessions!

I have always been drawn to lifestyle photography. I find that when I am cruising around looking for inspiration as I often do that it's these candid moments of every day life that I always stop and stare at. I love the idea of capturing the moments. The real moments. The bed head moments, the breakfast moments, the story time moments, playtime moments and all the moments in between. These are the moments that are most often overlooked, but are the most precious - because they are real. They are yours and they are a reminder of what life was like everyday at a moment in time.

I did my very first lifestyle photography session this past weekend with an amazing and fun family who kindly opened up their home to me for the morning while I went about capturing their typical Sunday. I had so much fun - and loved photographing them. I hope these memories of a day in their life will make them smile for many years to come....and who knows - winter may just become my favourite time of year :-) xoxoxo
