Zoetik - Business EcoSystems for Neurodivergent Business People

Zoetik - Business EcoSystems for Neurodivergent Business People Business Ecosystems; helping neurodivergent leaders with their people and processes. Funnels, Websites, Hosting, CRMs, Systems.

I set up my consultancy for highly-driven leaders in 2021 after being on the receiving end of both detrimental leadership and excellence in leadership. Myself a senior leader in the education sector, for a number of years, and prior as a teacher and manager found that the lack of care for team members created negative cultures and unproductive environments, making success difficult and miserable.

I now provide a variety of offers in support for conscious leaders who have identified that their own neurodiverse traits, can sometimes hinder their team management. I have a small team myself and work closely, mainly with small business owners.

Ever wondered how I actually get things done? I mean, I have AUDHD, am heading towards menopause and in the winter months suffer from S.A.D. You may at this point be thinking, 'How is she going to help me?' - and I wouldn't blame you.

Well, it’s not all colour-coded planners and productivity hacks. Most days start with a strong cup of coffee and some herbal supplements for focus, a quick scan of my desk jungle and usually a rearrange and then some green tea with mint (it contains L-Theanine which I find helpful). Some mornings I need a visual timer; other days, it’s the plants or a favourite fidget toy that keep me grounded.

No two days are identical. That’s the beauty (and the challenge) of building a business as a neurodivergent founder. Systems here flex around my brain, not the other way round and I have Harriet my RHW who makes sure changes in routine and process are deliberate and effective. I also use virtual desk buddies who are awesome.

Our systems and processes ensure we deliver consistently, even on bad days (and no, we don't push through, they are there to support us to fall back, if we need to).

Outages this morning include: Cloudflare, Canva, Zoom, Linkedin, High Level and others. Most of these outages are with websites rather than apps, so you may be able to get on to app versions of tech if websites fail.

Ever wondered what a real ND-friendly workspace looks like?

Apart from the actual desk, things that regulate me and physical things that keep me on track, there's the tech....no don't scream and run. I'm talking about tech than supports us; it may be different for you, but for me Asana project management keeps me on track, Airtable shows me the data I need to mentally justify the tasks I do, and Funnel Sketchers (a Go High Level platform) keeps it all flowing. Now there are many more components to my own business but these are my three day-to-day must haves.

What are yours? If you're still looking for something, what would be your priority to move the needle right now?

Tangled in tech?

Ever opened a new platform and instantly felt your brain freeze? Or spent half an hour trying to find a button that’s supposedly 'right there'?

Most of my clients arrive feeling overwhelmed by endless tabs, jargon, and settings that just don’t fit how their mind works.

It’s not you. It’s the system. The right tech should adapt to you, not the other way round. I specialise in untangling the mess and building systems that feel natural, because I’ve been there too.

If you’re ready for tech that finally makes sense (and saves you hours each week), drop me a message.

Imagine your systems working in perfect harmony.

Ever wondered what it would feel like to have your tech actually support your brain, not drain it? Picture this: no more platform battles. Just you, your work, and a little more breathing space.

What would you do more of? Creating? Networking? Outreach? Selling?

This isn’t a far-off dream. It’s the reality I build for neurodivergent founders every day.

Journaling isn’t just for quiet moments.

Sometimes, it’s my secret weapon when the tech whirlwind gets a bit much. On Monday evening, after spending the day with some awesome business owners, I scribbled down the jumble of ideas and ‘what-ifs’ that fill my head as a neurodivergent founder.

I don’t have a magic formula for calm or clarity. But I do have a system. I paused, reflected, and let the chaos out onto paper before I dived into the tech builds and client calls on Tuesday.

If you ever feel like your mind is running ten tabs at once, know that there’s power in taking a breath and letting your thoughts settle, even if it’s just for five minutes with a notebook and a cuppa.

We use anthropomorphic avatars in our branding at ZoEtik because often business owners who are neurodivergent feel they need to be displaying something other than their real selves.

This obviously shouldn't be the case, but too often, expectations from others on how we should behave in business affect us negatively. We may want to not talk about money; we may feel we should because other 'successful' people do. We may not want to 'launch' in the same way others teach, but feel that we are not keeping up if we don't.

So, sometimes we 'bite the bullet' and put ourselves and our businesses into situations that we don't recognise, are not comfortable with and we end up exhausted, our RSD goes into overdrive and we retreat into our safe places feeling a huge range of feels.

Our branding characters are a group of animals in human clothes, none of them are specific to a particular gender, race or neurodivergent 'type'. This is deliberate; most of the people I work with relate themselves to at least one of them. They show that we can still show our real selves in our business, even if we work in a space that has been designed around neurotypical functions.

ZoEtik stands out as different because we design our business and your systems around difference.

Now, some questions for you; do our characters need names? Do you relate to one of them more than another? I'd love to know.

I've come across quite a few people lately who don't like the term 'Neurodivergent'.

That's not to say that they don't think it exists (yes I've heard that one too), nor do they believe that they are 'neurotypical'. They just don't like the sound of the word (read into that one as much as you wish).

The reason I use it, not just to describe myself, but also in Zoetik's marketing is that if I was to describe every sort of trait that someone who (whether diagnosed, aware, labelled or against the word or not) experienced it would be overwhelming for us all, we don't need that minefield.

Some people prefer to use terms like 'spicy', 'super' or based on their diagnoses or experience like 'adhd', 'autistic' etc. And equally there are people who dislike one, more or all of these terms. I prefer to use something that is known well enough and encompasses all of the differences because we are all so different.

If I had to use the diagnoses one I'd probably end up explaining anyway as I have 'AUDHD and one of my strongest traits of that is 'Dyscalculia' and not everyone understands what all of that means on paper, let alone specifically to me as an individual.

What it comes down to is that if you want to work in a way that best suits you (whether you call yourself something or not) you need people around you who can recognise and understand the way your mind, processing, learning and business compass works.

So, if you don't like the term 'neurodivergent' you are just as welcome in my world as those who do. You do you, and we'll help you manage your business around that.

This is Ollie - he's 4 years old and only became bothered by the noise of fireworks this year. Prior to that I wondered if he could hear them at all.

So last week I was trying to solve this problem; what made him like this all of a sudden, why is he now reacting to them. What could I do for him to make it easier?

I did some research and found some useful things to help him. But I also realised that, maybe he was becoming overwhelmed; what didn't bother him before, does now, maybe his nervous system has a build up. So, yes, I'm looking at ways to treat him holistically for what we, as humans, also experience.

Why wouldn't he also feel that things he could put up with before are now no longer easy, that his cup is full (he just can't verbalise it so he barks, cries and zooms round the house).

Feeling overwhelmed by something that might not have affected us before, or that doesn't affect 'others' isn't wrong, nothing broke. Maybe our cup is full and overflowing. Taking time out for yourself is easier when you have automated things happening (fortunately for Ollie he has quite a few of us to look after him) and if you don't put things in place, you could see your business suffering every time you need to refill your cup. Will your business still sell, nurture, deliver, if you need to stop (preferably before things spill over)?
