Ugandan coffee took centre stage in Ankara last week during a high-level coffee cupping and trade engagement hosted by the Embassy of Uganda in Ankara and Kafe Kavil.

The event brought together Turkish importers, exporters, speciality roasters, investors, diplomats and coffee professionals to experience Uganda’s premium Arabica and Robusta varieties, while opening up conversations around sourcing, investment and long-term trade collaboration.

As demand for origin-driven and speciality coffee continues to grow, this engagement marked an important step in strengthening Uganda’s visibility in Türkiye’s coffee market and creating more direct connections between Ugandan producers and international buyers.

More on the Uganda–Kafe Kavil partnership coming in our next post.

Uganda takes centre stage in Venice.

We are proud to support the international communications around a historic cultural moment: the Nakibembe Embaire Group from Busoga opening this year’s Venice Biennale at Palazzo Grassi on 7 May 2026.

Custodians of the Embaire, a large communal xylophone played by multiple musicians at once, the group brings one of Uganda’s most powerful living traditions to one of the world’s most prestigious art stages.

Their performance, presented in conjunction with an exhibition by Michael Armitage, places Ugandan sound, heritage and collective performance in direct conversation with contemporary art.

The moment is historic not only because of where it is taking place, but because of what is being carried there: a Ugandan sound, a Busoga tradition, and a form of collective performance being given global visibility on one of the world’s most influential contemporary art stages.

With the upcoming release of The Trials of Winnie Mandela on Netflix, Zebek is supporting media engagement around the series, with Executive Producer Ivor Ichikowitz available for interviews from 23 April.

Led by the Ichikowitz Family Foundation and its African Oral History Archive, the seven-part docuseries uses rare archival material and personal testimony to revisit the life and legacy of Winnie Mandela, one of the most powerful and contested figures in modern African history.

At its core, this is about Africa telling its own stories, shaping historical memory, and connecting new generations to the past.

“This moment marks the beginning of a new rhino story for Kidepo Valley National Park,” said UWA Executive Director James Musinguzi.

“The translocation of these rhinos is the first step in restoring a species that once formed part of the park’s natural heritage.”

This story, now featured by BBC News, emerged from a recent press trip we designed and supported, part of our work to bring meaningful conservation stories from the continent to global audiences.
