Live in Islington? Want to take an active role in providing more opportunities for residents to improve health in our borough?

Islington Giving is looking for local residents to come together and make decisions about which local projects and services to fund with the aim of improving health for residents. In doing so, you will be helping them to think about what residents need to improve health and wellbeing, and deciding on what initiatives to fund to achieve this.

Live in Islington? Want to take an active role in providing more opportunities for residents to improve health in our borough?

Islington Giving is looking for local residents to come together and make decisions about which local projects and services to fund with the aim of improving health for residents. In doing so, you will be helping us to think about what residents need to improve health and wellbeing, and deciding on what initiatives to fund to achieve this. We are looking for people of all ages, from 18 up.

Who can be involved?
No previous experience is necessary – we don’t expect you to have done anything like this before. We want to meet residents who have ideas about what they would like to happen locally. We are looking for people who:

If you are interested in being a Panel member:
- live in Islington
- are over age 18
- have a desire to effect change in their local area
- can commit to participating on the whole programme from March to July 2026, around 4-6 hours per month plus some reading time
- are willing to work as part of a team to share ideas and reach a common goal
- have an interest in working with other residents with a range of backgrounds, ages and experiences

If you are interested in being a Panel member:

1. Complete the expression of interest form at your earliest convenience or by 10am on 2nd March 2026 at the latest, and email it to [email protected] or send by post to 13 Elliott’s Place, London N1 8HX.

2. The next step would be for us to have a phone conversation with you about your application – to find out a little bit more about you and answer any questions. This will give you and us the chance to see whether the programme is right for you.

If you have any difficulty with the form, please feel free to contact Laura – [email protected] or 07869 803737 (phone, text or WhatsApp) to discuss your interest.

The closing date for applications is 10am on 2nd March 2026

You don't need to be an expert, just passionate about building stronger communities around food!

Become a Food Advocate with Islington Food Partnership!

The Food Advocates volunteering programme is an exciting opportunity for local people with a passion for food to get involved. From October, we'll be training and supporting a small group of "advocates" to raise awareness of food issues in their community, share their experience of food in Islington (e.g. Food retail, food support, cooking etc.), and act as community connector, championing food support and opportunities across their communities. The group will meet monthly to share ideas and plan their work. Basic expenses covered.

You don't need to be an expert, just passionate about building stronger communities around food!

Free swimming lessons during the school holidays

Throughout the school holidays Islington Council are working with Better Leisure Centres to offer free swimming lessons to Islington residents and children who go to school in the borough. Available for children aged four–16, each lesson is 30 minutes long and takes place over five consecutive days (Monday–Friday). Sessions are run by fully qualified teachers who help your child learn to swim and improve their swim safety awareness.

Sessions are taking place at various centres, including Archway Leisure Centre and there are a variety of time slots to choose from.
