Samsung Galaxy S21 vs Samsung Galaxy S22
The Samsung Galaxy S22 aims to bring more of the most integrated approach found in the Galaxy series, and in this article we take a closer look at all the differences between the Galaxy S22 and its predecessor, the Galaxy S21. Store link= https://bit.ly/3pMVuYT
The Galaxy S22 is expected to bring a faster processor and improved cameras, however the overall design style of the phone and the layout of the three cameras are still very similar. The big difference is that Samsung may want something very small with the S22, reducing both size and weight.
Remember, the details about the Galaxy S22 in this article are original and are based on leaked specs and photos of , as well as other rumors. The release date for the S22 is expected to take place in late January or February 2022, and we will be reviewing this article as soon as we learn more about the upcoming S22.
Galaxy S22 vs S21 brief differences:
The Galaxy S22 is expected to be smaller
Fast chips in S22, 8GB of RAM the same in both
A system of three identical cameras with enhanced sensors
128GB basic storage for both, no microSD card support
New color options in S22.
The Galaxy S22 takes the concept of a compact phone and lives up to it. While the Galaxy S21 has a 6.2-inch display and never felt like a real “small” phone, the new Galaxy S22 embraces that view with a 6.06-inch screen, and will be much longer and slightly wider.
Samsung has been making larger phones over the past few years, and for the first time with the S22 it is rolling back the course towards a portable and compact portable handset. In fact, the S22 is only taller than the smaller Galaxy S10e launched in 2019!
Here's how the size of the Galaxy S22 compares to Samsung's latest flag:
Galaxy S22 - 146 x 70.5 x 7.6mm
Galaxy S21 - 151.7 x 71.2 x 7.9mm
Galaxy S20 - 151.7 x 69.1 x 7.9mm
Galaxy S10 - 149.9 x 70.4 x 7.8mm
Galaxy S10e - 142.2 x 69.9 x 7.9mm
The rest of the Galaxy S22 looks very familiar: you get a flat screen, a hole-in-front design and, for the first time in Samsung, perfectly matching bezels. The previous Galaxy phones used to have a "chin" slightly, or a wide lower border, but no longer exist. That may seem like a small thing, but it is not necessarily a bad thing. Apple and Google are actually the only phone makers to achieve that, and their use seems a bit overwhelming, so props to Samsung.
We also expect to see the latest generation of Super AMOLED screen technology with bright colors and high brightness compared to the S21. Certainly both phones will support 120Hz Adaptive refresh rate for smooth butter scrolling in applications.
Security will be taken care of with an ultrasonic on-screen fingerprint scanner, such as the Galaxy S21.
Performance
The Galaxy S22 will come with all new processor-enabled processors, with rumors that the US model will be equipped with Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, while overseas models will receive the upcoming Exynos 2200 - the first Exynos chipset with AMD GPU. The Galaxy S21, on the other hand, has the Snapdragon 888 in the US, while the international models include the Exynos 2100 processor.
Below, you can find benchmarks of the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 and how its performance compares with its predecessor, the Snapdragon 888:
While the CPU performance test does not seem to make much difference, the GPU does and that means players will be in better shape.
In the GFXBench 5 Aztec Ruins off-screen test, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 received 45 frames per second. Some phones were far behind, and for example, the Galaxy S21 Ultra came with 19fps in the same test, which means Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 brings twice as much.
We will still hear more about performance differences and will review this section as more information becomes available.
We do not expect much change when it comes to RAM or storage. Both phones are expected to have 8GB of RAM and 128GB of native storage. Do not forget that Samsung no longer supports MicroSD cards in Galaxy S21, and there will be no MicroSD card support in S22 again.
Cameras
If you look at the camera setup in the background, it is difficult to distinguish between the S22 and S21, as they both have three camera systems that look the same. But it is what is inside those cameras that will make some changes.
So, the camera hardware ... on the Galaxy S22 contains three sensors: a wide, wide-angle zoom camera, and a telephoto. See the table below for camera details:
The big change seems to be the new 50MP sensor for the main camera, enhanced over 12MP used on the S21. This large sensor will allow the S22 to perform quad-binning, a aka that combines four pixels into one to improve the ability to collect light.
The former 64MP sensor telephoto camera to zoom in on the S21, will be replaced by a native 3X zoom lens, a change that should result in clean long-distance zoom. There seems to be no change in ultra-wide hardware and front-facing cameras.
We'll update this section with more details and sample photos as soon as they become available.
Prior to video, Samsung is still the only major player that supports 8K video, and of course, you can record at lower resolutions like 4K60, 4K30, and 1080p on both phones.
Battery life and charging
For smaller sizes, Samsung will also use a smaller battery on the Galaxy S22. The exact battery capacity has not been confirmed yet, but rumors say the S22 may have 3,800mAh battery compared to the 4,000mAh battery in the S21, which is a 5% reduction in size.
We will still see if Samsung can fix this small battery size with the most efficient chips and display technology, and gain the same battery life it has in the S21, or if the actual battery life also takes a small contribution with this small form. .
Before charging, both phones are expected to charge up to 25W, and do not forget that you do not get a charging brick in any of the boxes, so if you do not already own a fast charger, you will not be able to charge. it may be necessary to purchase that separately. Both also support wireless charging with a maximum speed of up to 15W.
Comparison of Features
And here's a quick look at the specs in Galaxy S22 vs Galaxy S21:
Expect the Galaxy S22 to break the cover in late January or early February for the Samsung Unpacked event near the more expensive Galaxy S22 Plus with the Galaxy S22 Ultra. Pre-orders for the Galaxy S22 series are rumored to start on February 8, and the actual release date is allegedly scheduled for Friday, February 18th.
There is no word on the price yet, but the Galaxy S21 sells for $ 800 in the US, and the Galaxy S22 should cost about the same.
