Congratulations, graduates from Rose Bruford College!🎓

Two weeks ago, our managing director Chris had the pleasure of congratulating and honouring the graduates who completed the Creative Lighting Control course at Rose-Bruford College - a course he's spent the last few months delivering, passing on real industry know-how to the next generation of lighting designers and technicians.

From first principles to the finer points of programming a rig, it's been a privilege watching this group grow in confidence and skill. The industry gains a brilliant new crop of talent today, and we couldn't be prouder to have played a part in that journey.

Here's to the next chapter, graduates, the stage is yours.

West Training Services is heading to IAAPA Expo Europe in London for the first time this year! 🎪

Our founder, Chris, will be at ExCeL London (21-25 September) meeting the entertainment technology and attractions community.

If you're looking to upskill your team, build out a training programme, or get more from the tech you've already invested in, we'd love to chat.

As it's our first time at the show, we're especially looking forward to meeting new faces. If you're around, drop us a message or come find Chris on the floor!

This years PLASA looked a little different, as our Managing Director, Chris, had the pleasure of orchestrating The PLASA Lab - a brand new initiative for 2026, putting the latest and greatest fixtures on a level playing field in a blacked-out testing space.

No brands on show, no marketing spin - just spot, beam and wash fixtures shot side by side, with the audience guessing what they were looking at rather than who made it.

Programming that line-up to run smoothly was a brilliant challenge, and it was fantastic to see the room packed out for every session.

Huge thanks to the amazing students we got to work alongside, James Simpson from Copper Candle who planned the whole thing, and to the entire team at PLASA for trusting us to help bring this concept to life. It's a genuinely different way to look at fixture performance, and we're proud to have been part of getting it off the ground.

And to everyone we caught up with, whether in The Lab or out on the show floor, it was great to reconnect. Roll on next year 👋

We're delighted to welcome Birmingham Hippodrome as our newest client at West Training!

Chris recently delivered a bespoke Networks for Entertainment course, tailored specifically to Birmingham Hippodrome's venues and systems, giving their team hands-on, practical skills in building and managing lighting and sound networks with confidence.

From the fundamentals of networking hardware and topologies to VLANs, IP addressing and fault finding, the course was shaped around the venue's own kit and requirements.
