I have a confession.
I don’t particularly like networking 😬.

You know the kind…
- Walk into a room.
- Look around at people already in conversation.
- Approach some strangers and tell them what you do.
- Listen while they tell you what they do.
- Swap business cards, or e-card in my case (save the trees).
- Promise to “catch up soon”.

That kind of set up is definitely not why I created PaSHN. I wanted to create somewhere:
- People could actually get to know each other.
- You can ask a question without worrying whether you should already know the answer.
- You can say, “I’m struggling with this” and someone might be able to help.
- You can share something you’ve learned without it turning into a sales pitch.
- You can simply have a chat with other people who care about doing things better.

No pitching.
No posturing.
No judgement.
Just people.

That’s PaSHN 💜.

If you’ve been looking for a business community that doesn’t feel cringe-business-networky, you might have just found your people.

There are two ways to join - full PaSHN membership at £25 a month, or PaSHN Lite at £10 a month.

Find out more about PaSHN on the webpage - https://bepeoplesmart.co.uk/pashn/

Image shows the PaSHN logo and the text networking, without the networking. There are two scenes:
1 - A grey networking event, with three people stood together. Their thought bubbles say “what do I say?”, “do I have to pitch?” and “will I see them again?” The face we can see clearly looks like they’d rather be anywhere else.
2. A colourful scene of a group people sitting together and chatting, with smiles on their faces.

A question I was asked more than once last year was:

“Are the Jimmy Greer Awards just for people in the UK?”

No. Absolutely not.

These awards are for people around the world who are voluntarily making a tangible difference to disability inclusion and accessibility.

Last year, that global reach became very real, with winners including people in Nigeria and I would love to see the awards reach even more countries this time round.

Disability inclusion and accessibility are global issues and the people quietly doing something about them exist everywhere.

So please don’t just think about who you know locally. Think about colleagues overseas. International networks. Community contacts. People you’ve met through your work. People whose work you follow online.

Wherever they are in the world, if they are taking unpaid action that makes a real difference, I want to hear about them.

Nominations are open until 28 February 2027, but the sooner you nominate the sooner someone realises they’ve been noticed and appreciated.

Please share this beyond your own borders.

They’re open! 💜

Nominations for the second Jimmy Greer Awards are officially open.

These awards celebrate people who voluntarily make a tangible difference to disability inclusion and accessibility – in their workplace or in their community.

There are two categories:
1. Workplace Award
2. Community Award

These are global awards. You can nominate someone from anywhere in the world.

The actions being recognised must be unpaid, but they don’t have to be enormous. Inclusion is often changed through people noticing a barrier, caring enough to do something about it and refusing to leave people behind.

You can nominate someone else – or you can nominate yourself.
Nominations are open from today until 28 February 2027.

Who deserves to be seen?

Before nominations open on Thursday, I want you to think of someone.

Who do you know who quietly makes a difference to disability inclusion or accessibility?

Maybe they challenge inaccessible ways of working.
Maybe they give their time to an employee network.
Maybe they keep pushing for better access in their local community.
Maybe they organise something voluntarily, educate others, raise awareness or simply refuse to accept that disabled people should be left behind.

They don’t need inclusion in their job title.
They don’t need to have changed the whole world.
They just need to have taken unpaid action that has made a tangible difference.

Got someone in mind?
Keep hold of that thought.

The Jimmy Greer Awards open for nominations on 1 October – worldwide 🌍.

Celebrating the Jimmy Greer Award Winners! ✨

It’s Jimmy Greer Day and we are proudly celebrating the incredible people recognised through the Jimmy Greer Awards.

These awards were created to shine a light on those who are making a real difference to disability inclusion and accessibility - not for payment, without recognition (oh the irony) and alongside everything else they do.

And this year’s winners?
They are:
- People who take action.
- People who challenge barriers.
- People who show what inclusion looks like in practice - not just in words.

Across workplaces and communities, they are creating environments where people feel seen, heard and valued. That’s what meaningful inclusion looks like.

At Be we believe positive intent must lead to action and these winners are trailblazers.

Please take a moment to find out more about this year’s winners and their stories - https://bepeoplesmart.co.uk/jimmy-greer-awards/2026-winners/.
Share their achievements with your networks and ask yourself what action could you take today.

Huge congratulations and thanks to:

It’s the start of Disability History Month here in the UK!

Here are 3 things we could all do this month to make a difference:

1. Nominate a deserving person, people, or yourself - anywhere around the world - for a Jimmy Greer Award https://bepeoplesmart.co.uk/jimmy-greer-awards/. Let’s all celebrate these unsung heroes 👏🏻.

2. Start a conversation in your workplace about the value of disability inclusion. We don’t just mean the literal value of the Purple Pound - $13 trillion (US dollars) every year! - we mean the people and business value of inclusive cultures and ways of working 💜.

3. Take a look around you - at work, in public areas and on public transport - and if you identify an accessibility barrier, take action. Report it to the appropriate organisation, or if you feel safe to do so, let someone know if they are creating the barrier - suitcases stored in an accessible seating areas is a great example.

Together, we can create change.

What will you do this month?

- Being known for innovation because you lead where others follow.
- Having a supportive space to ask questions, get real answers and grow with confidence.

That’s what PaSHN is all about.
It’s your people-powered hub - packed with community chats, specialist sessions, Q&As, exclusive offers and practical advice from experts who walk the walk.

No jargon. No judgement. Just inclusion that works - and works for you.

The Jimmy Greer Awards are here! 🌟

At Be , we believe in celebrating the unsung heroes - the people who quietly make the world more inclusive and accessible, without expectation of recognition.

Today, in memory of Jimmy Greer (the father of our Founder, Jodie Greer), we’re proud to launch these awards to shine a light on those most deserving.

There are two award categories:
1. Workplace – for those creating positive change in organisations.
2. Community – for those making a difference in everyday life.

This isn’t about big budgets or job titles. It’s about action, heart, and the difference someone makes when they choose to stand up for inclusion and accessibility.

Nominations are now open and yes, self-nominations are welcome too!
You can find all the details and the nomination forms on the Jimmy Greer Awards webpage - https://bepeoplesmart.co.uk/jimmy-greer-awards/.

Please share far and wide so we can reach as many changemakers as possible.

Together, let’s show these heroes they are seen and they are appreciated 💜.

Are your posts making or breaking your brand?

With 1 in 5 people being disabled, if you aren’t confident in the inclusive and accessible design of your content, you are excluding a big chunk of your target audience.

I’ve heard many questions and statements like:

“Will accessibility limit my creativity?”
Absolutely not. In fact, because it will work better for you, it’s creativity at its best.

“My target audience aren’t disabled people.”
News flash - many of them are.

“How will I know if the people I’m trying to reach are disabled?”
Just know they will be.
Plus, anyone you’re reaching today may become disabled tomorrow and no longer be able to engage with your content. 83% of disabilities are acquired in adulthood.

My accredited Inclusive Social Media Workshop will make all the difference.

If you want to be inclusive and reach your audience, check out more details on my website https://bepeoplesmart.co.uk/home/our-services/accessible-communication/.

For blended learning classes (single bookings), I create polls to enable attendees to select the dates and times that work for them - I know it can be a challenge to find an activity at a time that works for you.

If you have any questions please ask.

Image title reads ‘Are you reaching your audience?’ and gives a breakdown of the Inclusive Social Media Workshop agenda:
- The business value of inclusion.
- Brand compliance made better.
- Text people can read and understand.
- Creativity at its best.
- Images that share the right message.
- Videos and animations people want to watch.
- Livestreams people look out for.
- Podcasts people subscribe to.
The Accredited Activity badge from The CPD Group shows 3 CPD Credits and #1017553.
