We incorporated bespoke field recordings that brought the Danish countryside into the urban rooftop environment, helping visitors connect with the natural world , restore their attentional networks and return to their day feeling refreshed, inspired and invigorated.

Is Music a Performance Enhancing Drug?

With the Olympics about the start, we dive into the topic of music and exercise.

Over the years, we've worked on many projects focussing on the power of music to motivate and enhance performance. These include helping ASICS create a song that helped people get moving, and curating playlists to help a team of rowers cross the Atlantic Ocean.

We summarise the effects of music into three main categories:

1. Synchrony 🥁
2. Arousal 😀😀
3. Dissociation 🤫

We're delighted to announce the launch of our new app, SwellSpa, which is now available in the AppStore!

Three years ago, we embarked on a mission to harness the power of sound therapy and deliver it via mobile technology, making it inclusive, easy-to-access and cost-effective.

🎛 We worked with the University of Art's MIMIC lab, which specialises in music and AI to work on our groundbreaking algorithm

🎶 We spent months working with award-winning musicians and sound therapists, capturing a range of instruments traditionally used for healing

🌍 We travelled to the most beautiful locations around the world to record areas of untapped beauty from the natural world

💡 We figured out how to make time elastic - so sounds are adaptable, can be choreographed to treatments and every listening experience is novel

🔬 We then tested the beta version with neuroscience lab, Kinda Studios , whose study indicated listeners achieve deeper relaxation, less sleep disruption, emotional uplift, awe and inspiration, and closer connection to nature with just 15 minutes of listening time

🌟 The feedback we've had has been unbelievable, and now we're ready to take SwellSpa into spa treatment rooms, hotel bedrooms, health clinics and the well-being industry. We'd be delighted to say hello 👋

This month of June, we’ve delighted to announce our partnership with music psychologist Dr Michelle Ulor to deliver a four-part workshop series entitled The Power Of Deep Listening.

The series of workshops will feature expert insights from our founder, Brian d'Souza, alongside Dr. Ulor covering topics such as deep listening, music and psychedelics and sound therapy.

The workshops explore the use of sound for improved health and wellbeing, delivering enlightening and interactive insights into the science behind music’s profounds effects.

Participants will gain exclusive access to the new SwellWorks app, designed to improve ones active listening skills alongside accessing different states and emotions including awe, relaxation, connection with nature and sleep.

The workshops will being on 12th of June 2024 at The House of KOKO. Over the course of four sessions we'll explore topics such as the:

• The Power of Deep Listening
• The Symbiosis of Biology and Music
• Exploring Music and Psychedelics
• Deep Listening with Ambient Flo

We're delighted to announce the launch of 'MindSpace', our partnership with Ministry of Sound throughout the month of May. We've got a room dedicated to sonic wellness and are showcasing the next generation of Swell's therapeutic sound technology. It will provide a sonic experience to help members reduce stress, feel inspired, connect with nature and be more mindful.

We’re excited to be powering the pop-up with our brand new ‘SwellWorks’ app. Three years in the making, the app presents a revolutionary way of harnessing the power of sound, incorporating sound therapy, natural sounds and musical instrumentation to transport and transcend users, activating their nervous system in a variety of positive ways.

We’ll be sharing more information on our brand new technology over the coming weeks and months, so stay tuned!

We were delighted to win 'Best New Spa Treatment' at Pure Beauty Awards 2023 for our x Swell Sound Treatment at the incredible just outside of London (part of the ).

The 90 min treatment takes you on a journey to the Hebrides, fusing sound therapy techniques with traditional Scottish instruments to encourage a state of deep relaxation during massage. ✨

We are delighted to announce that our Sound Treatment collaboration with has been nominated as a finalist in the 'Best New Spa or Salon Treatment' category in the Pure Beauty Awards.

Introduced at the Spa at Coworth Park, the 90 minute treatment combines a seaweed foot bath with meditative rituals, Balinese-inspired massage and a scalp treatment that uses warm oil.⁠

Brian d'Souza and our team at Swell used field recordings, traditional instruments and therapeutic sound techniques to create the specially designed composition, which was synchronised to massage. The music will ground you in the moment, and aid relaxation before transporting you to the Outer Hebrides.⁠
