From Thailand and China to Uruguay and England, some of the world's most exciting wines are now coming from regions that would have been considered unlikely wine destinations just a few decades ago.

A recent York Post article explores how climate change, innovation, and changing consumer tastes are reshaping the global wine landscape, creating opportunities for emerging wine regions to gain recognition alongside more established producers.

As the geography of wine evolves, so too must the way the industry thinks about sustainability, logistics, and packaging.

At Packamama, we're excited to see innovation happening across the wine sector. Whether it's new growing regions, regenerative viticulture, or more efficient packaging solutions, the future of wine will be shaped by those willing to challenge convention.

This World Ocean Day, we're celebrating the power of collaboration in protecting our blue planet.

The 2026 theme, Strong Marine Protected Areas for Our Blue Planet, highlights the global ambition to protect at least 30% of the world's ocean by 2030. Healthy oceans regulate our climate, support biodiversity, sustain livelihoods, and are essential for the future of life on Earth.

At Packamama, we're committed to reducing the environmental impact of packaging through innovation. That's why we're proud to work with Prevented Ocean Plastic and forward thinking partners such as The Wine Society, whose bottles help support the collection and recycling of plastic waste from coastal communities at risk of ocean pollution.

By choosing more circular packaging solutions, we can help reduce waste, lower emissions, and support initiatives that keep plastic out of our oceans.

Protecting our oceans requires action from governments, businesses, and consumers alike. Together, we can help turn ambition into action and create a healthier future for our blue planet.

This World Environment Day, the message from the United Nations is clear:

At Packamama, our answer is simple. Rethink what we can control.

By reducing packaging weight, using recycled PET, and designing for circularity, we're helping lower emissions without changing the wine experience people love.

Climate action isn't one big solution. It's thousands of better decisions made every day.

What a weekend! ๐Ÿ™Œ The 14th annual Pyrmont Festival completely took over Pirrama Park on May 23-24, and between the live soul music and the endless food trucks, we spent our time hunting down the city's best sustainable drops.

Shoutout to Tamburlaine Organic Wines for keeping the crowds refreshed with their Lizard Drinking Rosรฉ. Not only is it a vibrant, crisp watermelon-pink drop (perfect for a harborside picnic), but it comes in Packamamaโ€™s shatterproof, 100% recycled eco-flat bottles.

Sustainable, packable, and delicious!

The Western Cape Economy Innovation Awards recently highlighted South Africa's first Eco Flat wine bottle, recognising how packaging innovation is helping reshape the future of the wine industry.

Manufactured by Polyoak Packaging, in collaboration with Packamama, the 750ml bottle weighs just 63g and is over 80% lighter than a traditional glass bottle. The result is lower transport emissions, improved logistics efficiency, and more efficient use of storage space throughout the supply chain.

A recent article by Cape Chamber of Commerce and Industry highlighted a growing trend that many of us are seeing across the industry: consumers, particularly younger generations, are increasingly open to alternative packaging formats when the sustainability and practical benefits are clear.

Innovation in wine packaging is no longer a future conversation. It's happening now.

What happens after a Packamama bottle is recycled?

In this part of our conversation, we explore how recycled PET can be collected, processed, and turned back into high quality recycled material.

Packamama bottles are made from recycled materials and designed to be recycled again, helping keep PET in use for longer and supporting a more circular economy.

Once collected, the bottles can be sorted, cleaned, shredded, and remelted into new material. We are also exploring chemical and enzymatic recycling, which can break PET down into its building blocks to create virgin quality material.

Lighter. Recyclable. Designed for circularity.

Circularity does not stop at a border.

A recent article by Cody Profaca for The Drinks Trade highlighted a new Pacific PET circularity program led by Coca-Cola Europacific Partners and Circular Plastics Australia PET.

The initiative will help recover community collected PET across Pacific Island nations including Fiji, Samoa, Tonga, Papua New Guinea, and Vanuatu, processing the material through Australiaโ€™s recycling infrastructure and turning it back into food grade resin for new packaging.

It is a strong example of how collaboration across brands, recyclers, logistics partners, and markets is essential to building a truly circular packaging system.

At Packamama, this is the wider conversation we care about. Designing packaging using recycled PET, reducing unnecessary weight, and helping create demand for materials that stay within the circular economy.

Lighter packaging matters. Circular systems matter just as much.

A busy and insightful few days at London Wine Fair 2026 for Packamama.

Across the sessions, one theme stood out clearly. The wine industry is evolving through better farming, stronger storytelling, changing consumer habits, and new ways of thinking about packaging.

From The Donum Estate exploring regenerative organic farming and expressive wines from Californiaโ€™s North Coast, to the discussion around English wineโ€™s next chapter and how the category can grow its audience, the conversations showed an industry full of ambition and opportunity.

It was also interesting to see the continued rise of alcohol free wine, with Eisberg showcasing how innovation is helping open the category to more occasions and more consumers.

For Packamama, events like London Wine Fair are a valuable reminder that the future of wine will be shaped by quality, sustainability, accessibility, and fresh thinking across the whole supply chain.

Weโ€™re already looking forward to seeing how the industry has progressed at London Wine Fair 2027!

The first day of London Wine Fair 2026 didnโ€™t disappoint! ๐Ÿท

One of the highlights of the day for Santiago and Angelo was attending the โ€œReasons to Be Cheerful: Dynamism & Opportunity in UK Drinksโ€ session.

At a time when the wine and spirits industry faces changing consumer habits, economic pressures, and sustainability challenges, it is encouraging to see conversations focused on optimism, adaptability, and innovation across the sector.

With insights from leaders including Miles Beale - Chief Executive WSTA, Caroline Thompson-Hill Head of BWS at Marks and Spencer, Steve Finlan - CEO The Wine Society and Richard Cochrane from Felix Solis Avantis, the session highlighted how the industry continues to evolve through collaboration, creativity, and fresh thinking.

Exactly the kind of conversations shaping the future of wine.

Weโ€™re looking forward to the rest of the weekโ€™s sessions at Olympia London.

Part 3 of our conversation exploring the future of wine packaging.

Packamama bottles are not just designed to help reduce carbon emissions, they are also designed with consumers in mind.

Shatterproof, lightweight, easier to carry, and designed to fit more efficiently into shelves, fridges, bags, and even suitcases.

The goal is simple. Rethink the packaging without changing anything people love about wine.

Smarter packaging. Same wine experience.
