At what stage did your business become the hardest to run?
For me, after working with businesses at every stage, Iâve realised somethingâŚ
The marketing strategy that gets you from ÂŁ0 to ÂŁ100k isnât the same strategy that gets you to ÂŁ500k.
And it definitely isnât the strategy that gets you from ÂŁ1M to ÂŁ5M.
Every stage asks something different of you.
When youâre just starting, I actually donât think ads are always the answer.
At that stage, youâre still figuring things out.
Youâre validating your idea.
Youâre learning who your ideal customer is.
Youâre finding the messaging that actually gets people interested.
Can ads help?
Absolutely.
Theyâre one of the fastest ways to get feedback because people will tell you very quickly if your offer is working.
But theyâre not a magic fix. If the foundations arenât there yet, ads will simply show you where the gaps are.
Then comes the next stageâŚ
Around the ÂŁ500k mark, things start to change.
Youâve proven your business works.
Now itâs about refining.
Testing different messages.
Different offers.
Different audiences.
Youâre already making money from your ads, but youâre constantly looking for those small improvements that compound over time.
Then you reach ÂŁ1M+.
This is where I see the biggest shift.
Advertising stops being about generating leads.
It becomes about building a brand.
Youâre thinking much longer term.
How do we become the obvious choice?
How do we lower our customer acquisition costs over the next few years, not just next month?
How do we build enough trust that people already know our name before theyâre ready to buy?
The conversations become completely different.
And thatâs one of the reasons I love what I do.
Iâve worked with businesses in construction, beauty, healthcare, ecommerce, finance, legal, transport and so many more.
Different industries.
But the same pattern appears every single time.
The businesses that keep growing are the ones that understand one thing:
The strategy has to evolve as the business evolves.
So now Iâm curiousâŚ
đ Whatâs one thing that has helped your business grow the most over the last year?
