Underfloor heating and plenty of storage has been used so we didn’t cramp the spaces keeping a nice clean palette. We like to keep that palette just neutral enough so that the occupants can make it their own space and introduce their own fabrics and furniture to give it a pop of colour.

We decided to position buildings across and down, layering the site from a very public frontage on Dudden Hill Lane. Passing through the development, it becomes more private and secluded as we drop down the hill.

The Middle Yard development is made up of four blocks. Each has got its own aspect, got its own relationship with the boundary with each other and views out. Naturally, as you move up the building, you get more views and less enclosure of the spaces. As a contradiction to that, the lower you are, the more private and secluded you are.
