The words are true, we wanted always to story tell but always to talk the talk and walk the walk. So the real footage represents a movement of change!
We stand with our communities! Fed up with being miss sold, not knowing where or how this hair has got here! As ignorance is bliss, but we cannot unlearn how demographics of people are exploited. Due to the rising demand of once what was cheap hair with lucrative gangs targeting women and children for their hair, we now have the inflation value, of an unregulated industry ran like a monopoly board. Where things have quite frankly got completely out of hand not just over seas, here on our doorstep in the UK. There has never been a time more important to make conscious choices of practice! With our UK partnership in waste management, we have been able to set up and scale an absolutely incredible initiative. For the safety of businesses and donors to carry out the consent/ raise awareness to the general public and simply offer a solution to safely gathered hair at no one’s expense as it would of been just discarded. This is monitored and certified and accessible- from the people for the people.
We have strict working practices of fair pay and working hours for our hair sorters- which might I add we run an intrepreneurship scheme so mothers can work without pressures of childcare and people can have work life balance with no conpromise on the growth of their careers or income.
We really turn over a lot of stones, to ensure we have thought in the shoes of who is doing, why they are doing, and how long they will be doing and what influencing factors and limitations affect all of that.
With an economy hard to navigate at this time in the UK. The only thing that will prevail will be purposeful missions, that the community gets involved with, as they see how working together in aligned purpose brings so much opportunity.
For the company’s that buy hair via the identity house and our donors in the past, present and future! We forever thank you for recognising social responsibility with in your practices and supporting our mission to make this accessible for everyone in the UK!
With love
Ash & Eva
