Beautiful Roman tile dated to the Mid 2nd Century AD. The three grooves are finger indentations where clay was pressed into the corner.

We were 1m down when this popped up and boy did it put a smile on the whole team! There was little hope to finding a Roman deposit in this trench until we finally found this.

Isn’t it just amazing to think how this tile formed a part of the fort - swipe left to see Marcus’s reconstruction 🤩

What am I holding (wrong comments only!)🤷🏽‍♀️😅 We are back for another series of The Great British Dig ⚒️🤠

Join us on 29th December at 21:00GMT on More4 as we kick off Series 2 in Falkirk. We will most likely do a livestream to accompany each episode with the archaeologists and historians on and off screen. So keep an out for that too!

Separately as this is the second episode based on the Romans defensive structures with a series of forts along them. I will be dropping two videos in the New Year, Hadrian’s Wall and The Antonine Wall.

Happy International Women's Day 👷🏽‍♀️⚒🤠

This year's theme is
As a discipline and an industry. Archaeology has its faults. We need to challenge the lack of women in senior positions. Challenge the pay gap. Challenge working conditions. Challenge the moments we are put in uncomfortable positions. There are some amazing Facebook groups created to help women in archaeology and heritage which I highly recommend. Prospect (UK - union) are already challenging the industry however not all archaeological companies acknowledge the union. Which gives companies more room to do what they want.

📸 This photo was taken on the day of our Xmas party after a horrific, cold, month working 4 hours from home. It is one of my favourite photos from that project. And I will always find a way to share it! haha 💃🏽💃💃🏼 Come to think of it 🤔. Was it the last site we all worked on together?
