This , the theme is Give To Gain, a global call to advance gender equality through generosity, advocacy and support.

At Planet Mark, we’re looking at it through our own lens: giving back to the planet. Our day-to-day work helps businesses measure their impact, improve over time, and take responsibility for their footprint.

Across our team, that commitment is personal.

For our Managing Director, Avital Johanan, it’s rooted in responsibility and collective impact:

“The collective impact of our members is my daily motivation… The choices we make impact businesses and their opportunity to transform and meet the needs of a sustainable future.”

For our Senior Engagement Manager, Hannah Dean-Wood, it’s much closer to home:

“Growing up in the countryside with frogs and fireflies as my daily companions made nature feel like my first set of siblings. Protecting the planet now feels personal rather than abstract, more like caring for a family member, and that perspective keeps my work at Planet Mark grounded in gratitude, responsibility, and a childlike sense of curiosity and joy.”

And those are just two perspectives.

In our latest blog, more of the women behind Planet Mark share what giving back means to them, and how it shapes the way they work every day.

If you’re reflecting on what you choose to give, your time, your voice, your leadership, their stories offer a thoughtful place to start.

We’re thrilled to announce our partnership with , helping organisations accelerate their transition to low-carbon transport.

Almost a year after hosting our event together, this collaboration marks the next step in supporting businesses and employees to make measurable climate impact.

Octopus EV enables businesses to help employees save up to 40 % on an electric car through a no-cost, minimal-admin salary-sacrifice scheme, joining 7,500 + companies already on board.

🌍 Switching to an electric vehicle can save 1.5 million grams of CO₂ every year, the same as four return flights from London to Barcelona.

For Planet Mark Members, that means reducing emissions, supporting their journey to net zero, and empowering teams to lead by example.

Employees also benefit from £500 off low-carbon tech and access to green energy tariffs like Intelligent Octopus Go, empowering individuals and organisations to take measurable steps toward a more sustainable future.

Together, we’re turning sustainability ambition into measurable impact.

Yesterday, the Planet Mark team came together for our Q4 Strategy Day, an afternoon of reflection, collaboration and forward thinking as we head into the final stretch of the year.
The day was all about connection and collective thinking, from discussing our understanding of value chains to brainstorming around Planet Mark’s strategic pillars and themes for Q4. Our open colleague panel gave us a glimpse into a day in the life across different teams, a great reminder of how each role contributes to our shared purpose, and a chance to exchange honest reflections and ideas for the year ahead.

We also took time to pause and reflect on what change really means, not just as a shift in direction, but as a transition we each move through. From endings to new beginnings, it’s the space in between, ✨the neutral zone✨, where growth and transformation take root. 🌿

And, in true Planet Mark spirit, we finished with two truths and a lie (work edition), let’s just say we learned a few things we didn’t expect. 😄

A huge thank you to everyone who brought curiosity, openness and good energy to the day. It’s this collective reflection and collaboration that keeps Planet Mark moving forward with purpose.

Yesterday, some of our Planet Mark team attended the Great Green Balloon Debate, hosted by our Partner and sponsored by Carefree, with Sarah Duncan and Grace Greensitt leading the event.

Our Partnerships Manager, James Shorey, was a finalist in this year’s debate and came third place🎈, joining a fantastic line-up of sustainability leaders tackling one big question: Who’s going to save the planet?

James Shorey took to the stage to present “Everyone, Everywhere”, a powerful reminder that:

“We face hundreds of challenges and thousands of impacts, and that’s why every person’s actions matter. It’s about being an urgent optimist.”

💬 The key takeaway:
Collaboration is our greatest tool. Every solution matters, and only together can we turn optimism into meaningful climate action.

Yesterday, some of our Planet Mark team attended the Energy Innovation Agency’s Accelerating Sustainability conference in Manchester, where our Founder, Steve Malkin, spoke about the importance of collaboration in driving credible climate action.

The day was a powerful reminder that partnership is key to scaling real-world solutions for net zero. From insightful keynotes to practical case studies, discussions explored how quality data underpins credible action, and how, for many organisations, the greatest challenge lies in overcoming the fear of making the wrong decision when adopting new energy technologies.

It was particularly inspiring to hear about the innovative pilot projects being rolled out in Norway by Skagerak, demonstrating what’s possible when technology is tested for both deployability and scalability.

A huge thank-you to the Energy Innovation Agency for bringing together such an ambitious community of changemakers. We’re proud to be a partner in accelerating sustainability across Greater Manchester and beyond. 🌍🚀

✨ What a day at the The Royal Warrant Holders Association Sustainability Conference 2025.

Hosted at BT HQ in London, the event brought together over 180 Royal Warrant Holders, leading brands and changemakers, and the energy in the room was incredible.
From the business case for sustainability to net zero strategies and nature recovery, the conversations were open, inspiring and refreshingly real. No greenwash. No jargon. Just people sharing what’s working (and what isn’t).

A few of the standout takeaways included:
✨ Marta Mendonca, Head Manager at The Porto Protocol Foundation, reminded us that “we are a collective power.”

✨ James Hygate OBE, CEO at Firefly Green Fuels, urged businesses to focus on what’s practical and scalable: “We’ve gone back to basics now, which is where we should have started.”

✨Tony Juniper CBE, Chair of Natural England, underlined the urgency of nature recovery: “We have to draw nature into the heart of strategy for our businesses.”

Closing the day, speakers left us with two powerful calls to action:
✨ Steve Malkin, Planet Mark Founder: “Scope 3 is where the majority of emissions lie, and measuring it unlocks the biggest opportunities for real progress on net zero.”

✨Tony Juniper CBE: “Physics and chemistry do not negotiate, change is underway. It makes no sense to move away from Nature and Net Zero. We should be confident about the science and need to respond to it.”

A huge thank you to the Royal Warrant Holders Association for bringing everyone together, and to BT for hosting us in such a brilliant space.

👏 And a shoutout to our Planet Mark team; Steve Malkin, Hannah Dean-Wood, Roxanna Francombe, Lilly Miller, Francesca Evans, Connor Launder, and Millie Hocking, for bringing the conversations to life and sharing the Planet Mark mission.

At Planet Mark, we’re proud to be part of these moments, helping businesses turn bold commitments into measurable, verified impact.

🌱 Yesterday marked our Q3 Strategy Day, where the Planet Mark team came together to reflect on progress from H1 and set the course for the months ahead.

The morning was dedicated to sharing updates, celebrating achievements, and exploring how we can raise our voice even further on the climate action businesses are calling for.

Some of the progress we discussed:

✅ New colleagues joining the team and bringing fresh perspectives
✅ More members stepping up their commitments to cut emissions
✅ Hundreds of people engaging with our Academy to build knowledge and skills
✅ Significant reductions in carbon across our community

And with 89% of people wanting to see more climate action, according to YouGov, there’s never been a better time to lead by example.

As Steve Malkin, CEO of Planet Mark, summed it up perfectly: Be confident, but put the yards in.

We rounded off the day with a picnic and a sports day that was, let’s just say, full of healthy rivalry.

A huge thank you to the team for all your hard work, ideas, and good vibes.✨💚

Yesterday, we brought together a brilliant group of people for during London Climate Action Week, a chance to share honest stories about what it really takes to make progress.

One thing was clear: you don’t need to come from a sustainability background to get started. Every organisation can play a part, and sometimes the first step is simply asking the right questions.

We heard how, for many SMEs, the opportunity to reduce costs often becomes the catalyst for taking action, showing that commercial priorities and climate ambitions can go hand in hand. At the same time, smaller businesses still face barriers in competing with larger firms that benefit from economies of scale. But by collaborating, sharing knowledge, and staying curious, we can level the playing field.

According to Deloitte’s 13th Annual Millennial and Gen Z Survey, as reported by the Financial Times, more than 70% of Gen Z and Millennials say green credentials and policies matter when they’re job hunting – a clear signal that climate action is also about attracting talent and building resilient cultures.

A huge thank you to our speakers who shared their experience and advice:

💚 Siân S., Associate Director ESG, at Ashdown Phillips
“You can’t manage what you don’t measure.”
Measuring impact is the foundation for any meaningful progress.

💚 Joe Teakle, Compliance and Business Improvement Manager at MF Freeman Group
“Expect to be challenged – and see it as a good thing.”
Challenges are part of moving forward.

💚 Steve Malkin CEO at Planet Mark
“Enjoy the journey. Stay in the game. We will win.”

With thanks to Hannah Dean-Wood Senior Engagement Manager at Planet Mark, for hosting and guiding such an open, honest conversation.

To everyone who joined us and contributed to such an energising discussion – thank you for bringing your ideas, questions, and optimism.🌿
