One of the world’s best-known artists, Kusama captivated audiences with her iconic polka dots, pumpkins and immersive installations. As the world’s top-selling female artist, we have been delighted to offer a number of her works over the years, with her instantly recognisable pumpkins always proving a crowd-pleaser.

Her otherworldly works challenge our perception, blurring the boundaries between reality and imagination and inviting us to see the world through Kusama’s eyes. We celebrate her extraordinary legacy and her lasting impact on contemporary art.

Books & Works on Paper | Thursday 1 October, 11:00
Sale Preview

A first look at our forthcoming Books & Works on Paper sale this October.

Featured is John Gerard’s celebrated The Herball or Generall Historie of Plantes, 1633, the first edition of Thomas Johnson’s extensively expanded and corrected version of one of the most famous English herbals.

This impressive copy contains more than 2,700 woodcut botanical illustrations with contemporary colour throughout, bound in near-contemporary gilt-decorated morocco. From familiar garden plants to more unusual botanical specimens, the volume offers a remarkable glimpse into the study and understanding of the natural world in 17th-century England.
