What would you do if you had the opportunity to save a human life by doing what you already do everyday? This is the question that Elliot For Water asks to people. Elliotforwater.com, in fact, is the first search engine that gives the possibility to its users to help the people in need of safe drinking water. One fifth of the global population has no access to clean water, leading to death of six

thousand people per day due to water-related diseases. Elliot For Water's mission is to provide access to safe drinking water to villages in Africa, Asia and South America. This is achieved by transforming something that people do every day, for free, into something powerful: the clicks on a search engine, become drops of water! In fact, Elliot For Water uses 60% of its profits, raised through the clicks on the Water Links, to buy Solwa Technologies, solar energy based machines that purify dirty or polluted water through desalination. We will also take care of the primary necessities of the villages in which this technology will be implemented.

Update from the water project! πŸ’§ In 2018, together with WellFound, we supported a water project in the remote village of Ndambe, in Guinea-Bissau.

At the time, access to clean water was extremely limited. Many families struggled to find food every day, and children were often unable to go to school.

Today, thanks to the long-term work and approach of WellFound, the situation is completely different. The community now has access to clean water and a market garden and, through them, people are growing and selling vegetables, creating income, and sending their children to school. A completely different reality from the one the village faced years ago, and a reminder of how transformative access to water can truly be. 🌍

This clip is from our latest podcast episode with Dr Antony Kingsley, where we go deep into how clean water projects actually work, and what real long-term impact looks like. Link in the comments. πŸŽ™οΈ Watch the episode on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UwtYtmORxXQ

This is probably the single most important aspect when we are talking about sustainability in water projects, and Dr Antony Kingsley explained it perfectly. πŸ’§ WellFound has been working for more than 20 years in some of the most remote areas of Guinea-Bissau and Sierra Leone. A big part of why they have been so successful in building sustainable water projects comes down to one thing: creating true partnerships with local communities.

If we want water projects to be genuinely sustainable, and not just a picture to share with donors, communities need to take ownership of the project and be involved in maintaining what has been built, with the right support and guidance, of course.

But when that ownership is missing, and projects are neglected, it is only fair to give other communities, who are desperately waiting for access to clean water, the opportunity instead. πŸŽ™οΈ You can watch the full episode through the link in the comments.

When a community starts saving money, with no income, no guarantee, no timeline, before WellFound has even confirmed they're coming, that's not just a touching story. That's proof of what clean water means and of how impactful WellFound's work is on the ground. Dr Antony Kingsley, CEO of WellFound, told us this story in our latest episode. NEW PODCAST EPISODE 🎀 When we say that Elliot for Water uses 20% of its revenue to fund clean water projects, what does that actually mean? How do clean water projects work? Where does the money go? And what really happens on the ground? πŸ’§

In this episode, Andrea is joined by Kingsley Wellfound, CEO of WellFound, and together they go beyond the surface to understand how real, sustainable water projects are built and maintained over time. But what started as a conversation about clean water quickly opened up a much deeper discussion about impact, dignity, and opportunity, and about how water can is a power beyond measure that allows communities to dream again, and begin shaping a different future for themselves. 🌎

This Thursday we will be posting a very special episode of the Elliot For Water podcast. An episode with Antony Kingsley and WellFound , our charity partner. We covered a lot, from the sustainability side of things, to how they manage to work in the remotest villages in Africa and the true impact that water projects have on people's lives. We can't wait to share it, because it reminded us why we do what we do, and how we could have not asked for a better partner than WellFound. 🌍 πŸ’§
