15-minute delivery was never the endgame.

The real disruption? Removing the mental effort of planning ahead.

In the latest Retail Disrupted podcast, Foodora’s Chief International Officer Giuseppe Randazzo joins me to unpack how quick commerce is evolving from a “speed play” into something far bigger: frictionless everyday shopping.

Because when convenience becomes invisible, quick commerce just becomes… commerce.

A powerful moment from my conversation with Philippe Gelder, President & CEO of Voted Product of the Year Worldwide, on the growing tension between convenience, algorithms, and consumer trust in retail.

Not my usual Friday afternoon 🏛️🇬🇷

Back in Athens for another client keynote and found myself with a few hours of free time. A rare treat! Got to explore the Parthenon, Acropolis, and Athens’ beautiful urban gardens I totally missed last week.

Having never been to Greece before, I was asked by separate clients to give talks on the future of retail - 9 days apart. Couldn’t quite justify staying and working on a beach in Mykonos in between gigs 🏝️ but appreciated the few hours to explore!

I went to Wolt's global retail summit in Athens. Here are 3 things I learned:

1. Speed is no longer a premium; it's an expectation. 32% of consumers now expect delivery in under two hours. For groceries? That's 50%. ⏰

2. Selection. Quality. Affordability. Crucial to get these basics right with quick com. And, in high-intent moments, shoppers don't choose their favorite brand. They choose the easiest option.

3. Quick commerce is not a "delivery channel". Remember when the iPhone launched and we all talked about "mobile commerce" like it was a separate thing? Now it's just... shopping. Quick commerce will follow the same path. It won't be a niche. It won't be a channel. It'll just be commerce.

👉 What do you think? How do you see quick commerce evolving?

Your finance team is quietly killing your conversion. 👀

Cut headcount → fewer people on the floor → conversion drops.
Cut marketing → fewer people find you → revenue drops.

It looks like a cost saving. It's actually a growth problem.

Martin Newman on why businesses are solving the wrong equation — and what to fix instead.

The biggest misconception in retail? That Gen Z has abandoned the shop floor.

Head of Retail Rachel Levy on why the brands winning right now are those bridging digital discovery with physical experience. 👇
