What an amazing way to celebrate a new milestone for the Book Club, which Iโ€™ve been hosting since 2022! As a spin off from the Chief & Alumni Book Club, Iโ€™m excited to share that itโ€™s now open for broader audiences of senior leaders worldwide. So, ๐ก๐จ๐ฐ ๐œ๐š๐ง ๐ฒ๐จ๐ฎ ๐ฎ๐ง๐ฅ๐จ๐œ๐ค ๐‘๐Ž๐ˆ ๐Ÿ๐ซ๐จ๐ฆ ๐ญ๐ก๐ž ๐๐ž๐ฏ๐ž๐ฅ๐จ๐ฉ๐ฆ๐ž๐ง๐ญ ๐š๐ง๐ ๐ข๐ฆ๐ฉ๐ฅ๐ž๐ฆ๐ž๐ง๐ญ๐š๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง ๐จ๐Ÿ ๐€๐ˆ ๐ข๐ง ๐ฒ๐จ๐ฎ๐ซ ๐จ๐ซ๐ ๐š๐ง๐ข๐ณ๐š๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง๐ฌ?

My answer is to do it through ๐ข๐ฆ๐ฉ๐ฅ๐ž๐ฆ๐ž๐ง๐ญ๐ข๐ง๐  ๐ก๐ฎ๐ฆ๐š๐ง-๐œ๐ž๐ง๐ญ๐ซ๐ข๐œ๐ข๐ญ๐ฒ ๐ข๐ง ๐ฒ๐จ๐ฎ๐ซ ๐€๐ˆ ๐ฌ๐ญ๐ซ๐š๐ญ๐ž๐ ๐ฒ ๐š๐ง๐ ๐š๐œ๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง ๐ฉ๐ฅ๐š๐ง๐ฌ. In my paper, โ€˜Human-Centricity as an Enabler of High Data Quality for AIโ€™, I highlight the importance of human-centricity in building a strong data foundation for any successful AI project.

Then it comes to understanding how AI shifts the behavior and decision-making of your consumers and customers. Are your AI tools and solutions able to address these shifts or are they solely focused on the ways things were done in the past? This is an example of where Behavioral Science can help you to address these new and rising opportunities and better understand the new role of consumer biases.

Doing these allows companies to build trust both within and outside the organization. But how can you achieve culture change and make sure employees adapt to new ways of working? And how can you ensure you have the trust of consumers and customers? This is where authenticity, transparency, and relevance become critical for brands and products success.

Many of this year's conversations at Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity highlighted the importance of data and AI in driving creativity and inspiring change in the advertising industry. At the same time, however, marketers have shifted their focus away from truly understanding consumers and are now treating them more as data points for building their AI models.

And what about the role of AI in consumers' lives? How has AI changed their consumption of content, purchase behavior, and decision-making?

๐Ÿ’ก In their search for quick and easy answers to their questions, consumers are increasingly using LLMs over traditional search engines. This means that it is now more important for marketers to think about ๐†๐ž๐ง๐ž๐ซ๐š๐ญ๐ข๐ฏ๐ž ๐„๐ง๐ ๐ข๐ง๐ž ๐Ž๐ฉ๐ญ๐ข๐ฆ๐ข๐ณ๐š๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง (GEO) vs traditional SEO.

๐Ÿ’ก Consumers are increasingly ๐ซ๐ž๐ฅ๐ข๐š๐ง๐ญ ๐จ๐ง ๐€๐ˆ ๐ญ๐จ ๐œ๐ฎ๐ซ๐š๐ญ๐ž ๐ญ๐ก๐ž๐ข๐ซ ๐๐ž๐œ๐ข๐ฌ๐ข๐จ๐ง-๐ฆ๐š๐ค๐ข๐ง๐  across a variety of categories. These categories range from ones traditionally associated with longer purchase cycles (e.g., financial services, education) to ones where they are open to fully delegate their decision-making to AI agents (e.g., CPG, travel).

๐Ÿ’ก Consumers don't follow traditional moments of truth and are instead increasingly making their decisions based on the ๐ข๐ง๐ฌ๐ญ๐š๐ง๐ญ ๐ฆ๐จ๐ฆ๐ž๐ง๐ญ ๐จ๐Ÿ ๐ญ๐ซ๐ฎ๐ญ๐ก, where the whole funnel collapses from minutes, days, and months to sometimes mere seconds.

๐Ÿ’ก Consumers are more likely ๐ญ๐จ ๐ฆ๐š๐ค๐ž ๐ฎ๐ง๐ฉ๐ฅ๐š๐ง๐ง๐ž๐ ๐š๐ง๐ ๐ข๐ฆ๐ฉ๐ฎ๐ฅ๐ฌ๐ž ๐ฉ๐ฎ๐ซ๐œ๐ก๐š๐ฌ๐ž๐ฌ, as with the amount of information they now have at hand, traditional purchase planning becomes extremely complex (due to both the amount of information and number of choices available). Hence, consumers are driven more by ๐ง๐ž๐ž๐ ๐ฌ๐ญ๐š๐ญ๐ž๐ฌ rather than specific products and categories.
