Today marks the start of UNITY WEEK!

This week-long series of events and activities celebrates all of our people and the unique insights they bring. It is an opportunity for all colleagues to play an active role in cultivating an inclusive environment, showcasing our individual differences as well as the commonalities that bring us together.

Across regions, networks, and industries, we unite to deliver panel discussions, interviews, fundraising challenges, and much more.

We have an incredibly diverse and global organization, and it can be difficult at times to feel fully connected, particularly as many of us are still working remotely.

Unity week ensures that our colleagues have a platform to share their stories, to listen and learn from others, and to know that they are valued for all that they bring to the firm.

Not only will we learn more about the history and current climate of hate and violence, but we’ll also discuss the next steps that we must take for today’s Asian American civil rights movement for equality, visibility, and agency.

Join us for a panel discussion with leading Asian American scholars and community advocates to explore and understand today’s anti-Asian violence and the Atlanta murders in the context of an untaught history.

We know that our colleagues, customers, and communities and, in particular, our BIPOC colleagues, will feel the impact of the murder trial of former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin on a deeply personal level, and we are working continuously to provide support, resources and understanding since the murder of George Floyd created an unremitting national spotlight on the movement.

The outcome of this trial is a marker, a moment, on a very long and challenging road ahead. Last year, our CEO Lance Uggla reminded us: “We are all human and we must stand together to drive change, change that builds a world that is equal, regardless of gender, sexual orientation, race, disability, mental health, culture or background. Let’s not treat these words lightly, but rather ensure we mean what we say and are willing to act.”

We have not reached the end of the road, the work is not yet done, our voices still need to be heard. IHS Markit’s commitment to bringing about true change and equality for all is unwavering. We will continue to talk, to share, and to break down the barriers that create obstacles where there can be opportunities.
