A new app now “saves the planet” by reselling leftover food from cafés and supermarkets.
They call it Too Good To Go.
You pay a few pounds, collect an anonymous “magic bag,” and feel like a hero.

But look closer.
Behind the green slogans and smiling icons, it’s still a business a profitable one.
Staff are paid, investors are rewarded, and the app takes a cut.
The poor are no longer helped they’re marketed to.

Our ancestors shared bread because it was moral.
We share waste because it’s monetisable.

Once, kindness was a duty.
Now, compassion comes with a checkout button.

If empathy needs a profit margin to exist,
then we’re not saving the planet
we’re selling what’s left of it.

TGTG collects data & credit.
Every sale gives them consumer behaviour data (times, areas, products).
They then use that to sell “impact reports” to investors and governments.

🕊 TRUTH SIGNAL — WHEN POWER LEFT THE ROOM

You could see it on their faces.
The suits, the smirks, the professional empathy smiles all frozen the day Trump took that selfie with a queue of world leaders.

One flash. One click.
And a century of political choreography collapsed into a group photo.

They’d spent decades building velvet ropes around power Oxford accents, Davos panels, moral lectures about “democracy.”
Then a man from Queens walked in, tore up the seating chart, and turned the whole G20 into Comic Con.

It wasn’t about Trump. It was about what he represented:
Every builder, driver, nurse, and forgotten worker suddenly at the table, even if just through the lens of a smartphone.

No wonder they’ve been screaming ever since.
Because once power takes a selfie, it never goes back behind the curtain.

In Belgium, a breaktime snack means a little carton of milk and a soft raisin bun. No fuss. No guilt. No one writes a policy about it.
It’s part of childhood. Food is culture. And we raise kids to enjoy it, not fear it.

In the UK? My daughter gets told she can only bring a fruit or vegetable to school.
No little biscuit. No bread roll. No cheese. No raisins (unless they’re in a carrot’s back pocket).
Because apparently, a quarter of an apple is the difference between good parenting and a sugar scandal.

I understand promoting healthy habits I really do. But there’s a difference between education and control.
Raising kids isn’t about banning everything with joy in it. It’s about balance. Teaching them when, why, and how much not just saying “no.”

I watch my daughters grow up in a system that’s obsessed with checking boxes but doesn’t always respect the bigger picture:
✨ food is connection
✨ food is heritage
✨ food is pleasure

Let the children eat a raisin bun, for God’s sake.
They’ll survive. And maybe even smile.

This café was and should still be a privately run hub for its own community.
Its absence is felt every day. The streets feel colder. Neighbours pass as strangers.
Meanwhile, media strangers become the ones we “know.”
A quiet loss and it shows.
