“Security has moved from the operational periphery to the centre of business decision-making.”

At Leverage Security, I continue to see this shift across the UK — where security is no longer viewed as a standalone function, but as a core part of business continuity, governance, and operational resilience.

This week’s focus highlights:

- The importance of Constructionline Gold and Achilles accreditation in strengthening supplier assurance
- The growing strategic role of frontline security officers in corporate and retail environments
- Evolving expectations around property management security solutions and measurable service delivery
- Key security trends shaping corporate risk in 2026

We also acknowledge the industry webinar hosted by SGC Security Services in partnership with Kettering General Hospital NHS Foundation Trust on Martyn’s Law and NHS preparedness. Full credit to SGC Security Services for delivering a timely and important sector discussion, presented by Figen Murray OBE.

📩 SecureWatch by Leverage is delivered via LinkedIn for professionals across property, facilities, and corporate security.

When everything works seamlessly - the building feels safe, clean, efficient, and fully operational, that’s Facilities Management at its very best.

But the reality is, most people only notice facilities management when something goes wrong.

The doors don’t open.
The lights fail.
The contractor doesn’t turn up.
Security is slow to respond.

This World FM Day, we’re recognising the people working behind the scenes who keep buildings running smoothly every single day. From property managers and FM directors to security teams, engineers, cleaners and front-of-house staff, your work keeps businesses moving and people protected.

At Leverage Security, we see the pressure FM teams face every day:

- Balancing budgets and expectations
- Managing risk and compliance
- Protecting people, property and assets
- Delivering seamless service without disruption

And despite the challenges, you continue to adapt, solve problems and keep standards high that deserves recognition. Today, we celebrate the professionals who make workplaces safer, smarter and stronger; because great buildings don’t run themselves - great people run them.

Martyn’s Law is changing the way organisations across the UK are expected to approach public safety, security, and operational preparedness.

We’ve published a new insight breaking down what the Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Act 2025 means in practical terms, including the shift to Standard Duty and Enhanced Duty requirements, and what businesses need to be doing now to prepare.

If you are responsible for premises, people, or risk management, this is an important update to understand.

Mental Health Awareness Week at Leverage Security: this Mental Health Awareness Week, we want to take a moment to reflect on something that truly matters to us at Leverage Security, 'our people'.

Working in the security industry means operating in a high-pressure environment, often 24/7, 365 days a year. The nature of our work demands resilience, focus, and commitment, but behind every role is a human being who also needs support, understanding, and space to recharge.

Over the past week, we organised one-to-one sessions where our employees had the opportunity to openly offload anything on their minds in a safe and supportive environment. Sometimes, simply being heard can refresh the mind and help someone feel renewed again.

We also arranged staff lunches to encourage stronger bonding across teams, create ease of communication and build the confidence for everyone to simply be themselves, irrespective of background, gender or economic class.

The outcome was genuinely positive. Our people had fun, connected with each other on a more personal level and the difference in morale and productivity has already become noticeable.

For us, this week reinforced an important message: mental wellbeing should not only be recognised during Mental Health Awareness Week. It should become part of our everyday culture and routine, especially in demanding industries like security.

Supporting people, checking in with one another, creating open conversations, and building inclusive environments should continue throughout our stressful days, weeks, and years ahead.

At Leverage Security, we remain committed to creating a workplace where people feel valued, supported, and empowered, not just as employees, but as individuals.

Artificial intelligence is transforming the security industry at unprecedented speed but alongside innovation comes a growing challenge many organisations are still underestimating:

The rise of artificial trust.

From AI-generated authority figures and misleading security claims to increasingly sophisticated cyber and physical threats, the modern risk landscape is evolving faster than ever before.

This week, following key industry discussions at The Security Event 2026, we explore:

▪ Why intelligence-led security is becoming essential
▪ The growing risks surrounding AI-driven misinformation
▪ What CEOs, property leaders and security professionals should prioritise now
▪ Why trust, leadership and human judgement remain critical in 2026 and beyond

Featuring insights from the Leverage Security leadership team and reflections from across the UK security sector, this latest edition of SecureWatch by Leverage examines the future of protection in an increasingly complex world.

“The organisations that lead the future of security will not be those chasing trends but those building trust.”

In a world where artificial intelligence can imitate authority, misinformation travels faster than facts, and threats evolve by the hour, one truth is becoming impossible to ignore: Security is no longer simply about protection. It is about trust.

The Leverage Security at The Security Event (TSE) 2026 spending the event connecting with professionals from across the UK security sector. From meaningful discussions with industry leaders to exchanging perspectives with peers across physical security, cyber security, and risk management, the event created an environment driven by collaboration, insight, and shared purpose.

Beyond the technology and demonstrations, it was the people behind the industry who stood out most. The team engaged in valuable conversations around the future of security, emerging operational challenges, and the importance of building resilient, intelligence-led approaches through strong industry relationships.

Mohammad Furqan Alam, Managing Director at Leverage Security, said: “Events such as The Security Event are invaluable because they bring together experienced professionals who are all working towards the same goal, raising standards across the industry. The quality of conversations, shared expertise, and professional relationships developed throughout the event reflect the direction modern security must continue to take: collaborative, informed, and proactive.”

The strongest security strategies begin with strong relationships and this week reinforced exactly why meaningful industry engagement matters.

In light of the UK Threat Level being raised from ‘Substantial’ to ‘SEVERE’, where an attack is highly likely; the current environment calls for a measured but unwavering focus on vigilance. Moments like this are a reminder that preparedness is not a static exercise, but a continuous responsibility shared across every level of an organisation.

Frontline teams should feel informed, supported and confident in their roles, with clear briefings that reinforce awareness without causing alarm. Equally, organisations may find value in taking a fresh, considered look at their existing security arrangements - ensuring that plans remain practical, responsive and well understood by those expected to act on them.

Now is also an important time to reinforce a culture where attentiveness is second nature: where individuals recognise what feels out of place and feel assured in reporting it. Small observations, communicated early, can make a meaningful difference.

A steady, thoughtful approach - grounded in awareness, communication, and readiness - remains one of the most effective ways to navigate periods of heightened risk.
