Femnesty: A Movement for Systemic Change

After a strategic hiatus, Femnesty returns with a bigger vision and a sharper mission. Originally launched as a social media platform—recognized by Good Morning America as a top app for women, our early work built a foundation for empowerment. But as 2019 came to a close, we stepped back to reflect: How do we move beyond conversation to create lasting, sy

stemic change? It’s a movement. Women are still burning out, trapped in the relentless cycle of ambition, emotional labor, and inequitable responsibility at work and home. Diversity remains a checkbox exercise, often the first to be cut when economic uncertainty hits. Progress is stalled, not because women lack ambition, but because systems were never designed for true equity. That’s why we’re introducing Diversity 2.0, an evolved framework for real inclusion. This isn’t about performative gestures or outdated narratives. True progress happens when men and women stand together, not in competition, but in partnership. Femnesty is for women who want to rise, lead, and support each other and for men who want to be part of the solution, as allies, partners, and changemakers. Inclusion isn’t a zero-sum game; it’s the foundation for a stronger, more sustainable future for everyone. In March 2024, we launch Enough is Enough, a groundbreaking book based on insights from over 400 women, dismantling the myth of ‘having it all’ and exposing the systemic barriers that keep women overworked, undervalued, and exhausted. This book is a call to action for workplaces, families, and individuals to redefine success, rethink leadership, and challenge the structures that hold us all back. This is not just a relaunch. Join us as we rewrite the rules together.

In 2023, Jacinda Ardern resigned as New Zealand’s Prime Minister.

She had breastfed in parliament. Led her country through a pandemic, a mass shooting, a volcanic eruption. She was widely regarded as one of the most effective leaders of her generation.

And she was criticised. Relentlessly. For being a woman in the job.

When she resigned she said: “I know what this job takes. And I know that I no longer have enough in the tank to do it justice.”

People called it brave.

And in the same breath said — see? Women can’t have it all.

She didn’t run out. The system ran her down.

No infrastructure on earth adequately supports a woman leading at that level while being a mother, a partner, a human being with a body that has limits.

She didn’t fail the myth. The myth failed her.

This is what Enough is Enough is about. The gap between what women are promised and what the system actually delivers.

We surveyed over 400 women across the UK, US, Europe and beyond.

We asked them what “having it all” meant to their lives.

These are the words that came back.
Not proud. Not fulfilled. Not empowered.
Exhausted. Guilty. Ashamed. Pressured. Resentful.

Over 80% said it had negatively impacted them. Not as an abstract idea. In their bodies, their relationships, their sense of self.

400 women. Different countries, different industries, different lives. The same words coming back every single time.

Enough is Enough documents what that system costs and what needs to change.

In Enough is Enough we discuss the Gender Wealth Gap, the growing number of women over 50 falling into homelessness and the reality of failed marriages on the longterm financial outlook for women.

This is why we think creative schemes like this could be a lifeline for women as they age. Community and connection are vital for our longterm health.

What an opportunity to create more communities like this.

This is no ordinary housing development. It is Britain’s first all-female cohousing community for older people. Ten years ago, 26 women ranging in age from their early fifties to their mid-eighties moved into this three-storey brick block in High Barnet, north London

All of female life is here: about nine different nationalities, workers and retirees, people who left school at 15 and people with a PhD.

But with 26 people living together, surely it can’t have been harmony and laughter all the time? “It’s not utopia,” Jude Tisdall, a 74-year-old resident says. “It’s not always easy to live with 25 other women. We deal with ageing, illness and disagreements. We’re not Stepford Wives, we have to work at it and negotiate.”

Every woman who reads this sentence goes quiet for a second.

Because it names something that has never quite had a name before.

Work like you don’t have a body.

Live like you don’t have limits.

Care like ambition doesn’t exist in you.

This is the shape of the myth. And we are over it.

This isn’t about hailing back to a trad wives frame. This is about recognising that we physically and mentally cannot do it all without help.

In the 1980s, “having it all” was sold as liberation.

Career. Marriage. Children. Ambition. Health. All at once. All perfectly. And make it look effortless.

Forty years later we’ve watched it mutate.
It’s not “having it all” anymore. It’s doing it all. Being it all. Performing it all without complaint, without rest, without anyone noticing the cost.

The promise changed shape. The burden got heavier. And women are still being told the problem is their time management.

We wrote Enough is Enough to name what actually happened.

These are the facts.

We’re ambitious, we’re driven, we’re mums, we’re leaders, we’ve been raised on a myth that in order to have it all, we must do it all and be it all - all at the same time.

Truth is - as incredible as we are, taking on too much without enough self prioritisation is burning us out.

And when that starts to happen, we’re fired.
