The last week of August, an early afternoon in Kensington Gardens before the city fills up again.

I love long walks, and some of the clearest thinking I do happens on one. It has actually been a productive summer for me. The Circle Investor Network platform, for founders raising capital and for deploying investors, has now moved across to my website at dashawhite.com, along with the rest of the services. From Investor Readiness and Investor Deck reviews for founders, pitching events and invitation-only Investor Evenings in Mayfair, to ongoing fractional COO engagements and consultancy. It is all there, but we are still working on bringing more content and free resources, so watch this space! and sign up for the newsletter.

It has been a while since a piece of art actually stopped me in my tracks. Christie’s Lates did that.
The show is The Meeting Ground, the Kiran Nadar Museum of Art’s own collection over from New Delhi, on at Christie’s London until 21st August. It is the first time Christie’s has given its summer show to a single institution. Paintings, photography, a few sculptures, one installation taking up half a room, and video playing on the big screens. Five different threads of one collection, and none of them competing with each other.

I went round a few times, stopping at each piece, getting close to see how it was actually made, then stepping back to take in the whole thing, and that is the part that stayed with me. From across the room, a piece looks finished, but it is only up close that you see what it actually took to get there, and how much of that you miss the first time round.

I have been thinking about that since. Because it is not really about the art, isn’t it…

What an evening at Canary Wharf! In partnership with Deloitte, Syrena hosted an invitation-only event designed to connect active investors with serious founders, and to launch REN, their agentic Founder x Investor matching service. REN finds the deals, makes the ask, and brings you people who’ve already said Yes.

Held at Level39, with mesmerising views over the city - truly inspirational ✨

REN listened to six Venture Capital investors pitch their thesis, then showed them the best deals from the network. Before anyone left the room, the matches were already made. That’s speed for you.

Meeting Maye Musk , an icon and a source of inspiration for many people around the world, was a true honour. I’ve greatly admired her strength and resilience throughout her life and career, and was captivated by her poise and grace as we spoke about the arts, London, and shared jokes about a mother’s pride in her brilliant children 😁

Maye Musk is a public speaker and a jet-setting supermodel but things were not always so easy or glamorous - she became a single mom at 31yo, struggling through poverty to provide for her three children, dealt with weight issues as a plus-size model, overcame ageism in the modelling industry, and established a lifelong career as a respected dietitian with two master’s degrees, all the while starting her nutrition business over in eight cities across three countries. She made her way through it all with an indomitable spirit and a no-nonsense attitude and has become a global success and an icon in what she calls the prime of her life.

In her memoir “A Woman Makes a Plan: Advice for a Lifetime of Adventure, Beauty, and Success,” Mayes shares experiences from her life conveying hard-earned wisdom and frank, practical advice on career, family, health, adventure and more. I’m proud to share that I’ve been accepted as a Startup Advisor and Mentor for the UK government’s Management program Help To Grow.

I feel privileged to do so on a volunteer basis, giving my time to business owners and helping them overcome challenges and refine growth strategy. Supporting startups and growing brands, and connecting them with investors have been long-standing passions of mine, and I’m excited to bring this experience to my new role 🚀

This time, we had a power couple Macaskill and Erika Tamayo sharing the up and downs of their entrepreneurial journey, and the challenges they had to overcome in their businesses while raising a young family. Sandy is the co-founder of the global fitness phenomenon Barry’s Bootcamp UK Barry's, and the ever so vibrant & inspirational Erica is the founder of the all-natural protein brand Hermosa.
