A philosophy that should be applied to workplaces across the country too! With the arrest tally hitting over 1,000 arrests in London this weekend, the peaceful protests by Extinction Rebellion put me in mind of Patagonia who are one company that already has a bail policy in place.
Patagonia lives their values and shapes their company policies around the teammates they are looking to attract. Their bail policy helps arrested employees when they are peacefully protesting environmental issues.
According to VP of HR, Dean Carter, “we hire activists, we look for people who are so incredibly passionate about the environment that they want to protest.” With Patagonia’s long history of environmental activism, they will also provide paid time off for court appearances or other legal appointments related to the arrest. A brilliant example for forward-thinking leaders out there to dust off their company policies and keep up to date with what's driving today's workforce.
