Everyone talks about lowering ACoS.

But here's the reality:

A 20% ACoS account can still lose money.

A 35% ACoS account can be highly profitable.

Why?

Because Amazon PPC isn't just about ad metrics it's about business metrics.

Before making any optimization, we ask questions like:

âś“ Is this SKU actually profitable after Amazon fees, COGS, and ad spend?
âś“ Is PPC increasing organic rankings or just buying temporary sales?
âś“ Which search terms deserve more budget based on conversion and margin?
âś“ Are we investing in hero SKUs or spreading the budget too thin?
âś“ Is TACoS improving as organic sales grow?

These are the decisions that separate profitable brands from brands that are simply spending more.

The goal isn't to achieve the lowest ACoS.

The goal is to build a system where PPC drives:
* Sustainable sales growth
* Better keyword rankings
* Higher contribution margin
* Lower TACoS over time
* Long-term profitability

Data beats assumptions. Every single time.

Amazon PPC Success Comes From Strategy, Not Just Spending More 🚀
`
`
Many sellers believe increasing ad spend is the fastest way to scale. In reality, sustainable growth comes from understanding the data, optimizing the listing, and building the right campaign structure.

For this account, the first step wasn't increasing the budget, it was improving the product listing. The pricing was higher than the market, which was limiting conversions. After optimizing the pricing, refining the listing content, improving the images, and updating image alt text for better indexing and discoverability, the listing became much more conversion-friendly.

With a stronger foundation in place, I restructured the PPC strategy, which generated $11.8K+ in attributed sales from $3.3K in ad spend, maintaining a 3.53 ROAS with an ACOS of 28.35%.
`
`
Key strategies implemented:

* Targeted long-tail keywords with lower competition and stronger buying intent to improve conversion rates while reducing CPC.

* Increased investment towards Top of Search placements, where conversion rates consistently outperformed other placements, helping maximize ROAS.

* Introduced a Sponsored Brands Collection Ads migration strategy, which strengthened brand visibility and contributed to 5X higher sales compared to the previous campaign structure.

* Continuously analyzed search term reports, harvested converting keywords, added negative keywords, optimized bids, and reduced wasted ad spend.

Amazon PPC is not about making one big optimization—it's about making hundreds of small, data-driven improvements that compound over time. When you combine a high-converting listing with the right keyword strategy, placement optimization, and continuous campaign refinement, profitable growth follows naturally.

Performance Snapshot:

* $11.8K+ Amazon Attributed Sales
* $3.3K Advertising Spend
* 3.53 ROAS
* 28.35% ACOS
* 5X Sales Growth through Sponsored Brands Collection Ads

Improved conversion rate through listing optimization and strategic placement adjustments

The best-performing Amazon accounts aren't always the ones with the biggest budgets, they're the ones with the smartest strategy.

Most Amazon sellers struggle with the same problem: sales grow, but profitability keeps dropping. This becomes even more common with variation listings where advertising spend gets distributed incorrectly and top-performing variations are not scaled properly.

In one Sports and Outdoors account, traffic was coming in but Total Advertising Cost of Sales continued increasing and growth was becoming expensive.

After conducting a full Amazon PPC audit, we identified the main issues: budget was spread across underperforming variations, best-selling variations were not receiving enough visibility, campaigns were not structured by variation performance, and listing optimization opportunities were reducing Click Through Rate and conversion.

Instead of increasing spend, we optimized both listing and advertising strategy.

We improved main images and listing content to boost Click Through Rate and strengthen conversion.

On the advertising side, we launched variation-specific campaigns and shifted budget toward the best-selling variations with stronger conversion data. Low-performing variations were controlled separately while top variations received focused ranking and scaling campaigns.

We tracked Conversion Rate, Click Through Rate, Advertising Cost of Sales, Total Advertising Cost of Sales, Cost Per Click, and variation-level performance to improve profitability.

📊 Result Impact:
Advertising Cost of Sales: 51% → 29%
Total Advertising Cost of Sales: 24% → 13%
Conversion Rate: 11.1% → 17.2%
Wasted ad spend reduced by 39%

🎯 Key Takeaway:

Variation listings do not scale by advertising every product equally. Growth comes from focusing budget on winning variations, improving listing conversion, and reducing Total Advertising Cost of Sales.

🚨 Low-Priced Products Are Killing Amazon PPC Profitability

A common issue I see with Amazon sellers is that low-priced products start generating sales, but profitability never scales with it. Spend increases, CPC stays high, and TACOS slowly starts drifting upward without clear control.

When I took over this account in the Home & Kitchen category, the product was already selling, but PPC performance was unstable and margins were getting squeezed.

The main issue wasn’t traffic, it was the mismatch between low product price and high CPC keywords, combined with unstructured campaign flow and poor keyword control.

Low-priced products simply don’t survive expensive short-tail traffic unless the structure is tightly controlled.

I started with a full account audit and found that most budget was being wasted on broad and auto campaigns targeting irrelevant or high-CPC keywords. There was also no proper separation between ranking, testing, and harvesting traffic.

To fix this, I restructured the entire PPC system and shifted strategy toward profitability-focused scaling.

I allocated 70% budget to ranking campaigns using exact mid-tail and long-tail keywords, and only 30% to auto campaigns for keyword harvesting, instead of blindly running auto campaigns.

At the same time, I shifted focus away from expensive short-tail keywords and built coverage around mid and long-tail search terms that could maintain profitability at lower CPC.

On the listing side, I optimized main images, improved infographics to increase CTR, and rebuilt EBC to better match search intent. I also strengthened backend indexing and optimized alt text to reinforce keyword relevance without increasing ad spend.

I also implemented strict negative keyword filtering to remove wasted traffic early and prevent budget leakage.

📊 Result Impact:
ACOS: 64% → 31%
TACOS: 39% → 17%
CPC reduced significantly due to long-tail shift
Conversion rate improved from 9.3% → 15.1%
Wasted ad spend dropped by 40%
🎯 Key Takeaway:

Low-priced products don’t fail because of demand: they fail because PPC is not structured for margin reality.

If CPC is not controlled through keyword depth, budget discipline, and listing alignment, even good-selling products become unprofitable at scale.

Amazon Sellers Are Scaling Ads: But Losing Profit

A common issue I see with Amazon sellers is that PPC starts generating sales, but profitability doesn’t scale with it. Spend increases, CPC rises, and TACoS slowly drifts upward without clear control.

When I took over this account, it was already driving revenue, but the performance wasn’t stable or efficiently managed.

The core problem wasn’t traffic, it was unstructured PPC ex*****on and wasted spend across overlapping campaigns and keywords.

I started with a micro audit of the entire account, reviewing search term reports, campaign structure, and budget flow to identify where money was leaking.

I found duplicate keyword targeting, poorly filtered auto and broad campaigns, and no clear separation between branded, core, and testing traffic, which was causing continuous inefficiency.

I restructured the account into clear campaign layers, focused only on proven converting search terms, added strong negative keyword filtering, and shifted budget toward high-performing ASINs and placements to improve efficiency.

Key takeaway:

Most Amazon PPC accounts don’t fail because of low traffic, they fail because of lack of structure, poor keyword control, and no proper waste management system at scale.
