**Music on Canvas**. National Gallery, London, 7/1/25.
Van Gogh at the National Gallery in London. The exhibition shows Van Gogh's works between 1888 and 1889, when he lived in southern France and alternated between staying at the Yellow House (which he rented with the aim of creating an artists' home and a communal studio) and the psychiatric sanatorium (if you don't remember when Van Gogh cut off a piece of his ear, it was in December 1888).
It was during this period that he developed his distinctive style of working with colours.
Personally, I was most intrigued by the displayed drawings. The drawings are works of art in themselves, not sketches for paintings. Vincent's brother Theo was allegedly not happy that Vincent was pursuing drawing and advised him not to continue .
Van Gogh was greatly inspired by Japanese art, idealizing Japan as a land of simplicity and harmony with nature. We will try to remember it when we go to Japan.

Van Gogh v Národní galerii v Londýně. Výstava představuje Van Goghovy práce mezi lety 1888 a 1889, kdy žil v jižní Francii a pobýval střídavě ve Žlutém domě (který si pronajal s cílem vytvořit zde centrum pro umělce) a v psychiatrickém sanatoriu (kdybyste si nepamatovali, kdy si Van Gogh uřízl kus ucha, tak to bylo v prosinci 1888). Právě v tomto období si vytvořil svůj osobitý styl práce s barvami.
Mě osobně zaujaly nejvíce vystavené kresby. Kresby jsou díla sama o sobě, nejedná se o skicy k obrazům. Vincentův bratr Theo prý nebyl rád, že se Vincent vydává cestou kresby, a doporučil mu s kresbami nepokračovat.
Van Gogh se velmi inspiroval japonským uměním, Japonsko si idealizoval jako zemi jednoduchosti a harmonie s přírodou. Zkusíme si na to vzpomenout, až pojedeme do Japonska.
