MCSO PARTNERS WITH COLORADO SHERIFF’S OFFICE AND FBI TO TRACK FUGITIVE STAYING IN JENSEN BEACH RENTAL HOME
33-year old Justin Najdawi traveled the nation to run from his despicable crimes, but his fugitive tour ended in Martin County Thursday night when he left his Jensen Beach vacation rental home to grab a bite to eat.
Najdawi, who is accused of videotaping himself sexually assaulting an unconscious woman in Colorado earlier this year made his way to Arkansas, through Texas, into Alabama, through Georgia and into Florida in an attempt to evade a criminal warrant for sexual assault and possession of child po*******hy. But as his selection of forever home destinations narrowed, so did the distance between his freedom and capture.
Once notified, The Martin County Sheriff’s Warrants Unit worked closely with the FBI Rocky Mountain Safe Steet Task Force, FBI Miami/Ft. Pierce Bureau and Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office to track leads that brought them to NE Maguerite Street in Jensen Beach, where Najdawi was renting a home through a vacation rental service. Thursday evening, the fugitive left that home and headed to a nearby food truck to grab dinner, but before he took his first bite, the Martin County Sheriff’s Office Warrants Unit grabbed him.
Justin Najdawi was taken into custody and will soon be back in Colorado to face the charges he thought would be lost in travel.
This arrest highlights just how effective partnerships between local law enforcement agencies and federal authorities can be when they work as one.
