Stay Safe in Your Job Search
With the rise of online recruitment platforms and AI-generated content, job seekers are more exposed than ever to fraudulent job offers and impersonation scams.
At Ventula Consulting, we want every candidate to feel confident and protected throughout their job search journey.
Here are our top tips for staying safe and spotting suspicious activity:
1️⃣ Research the Company
Before engaging with a recruiter or applying for a role, take a moment to look up the company online. Reputable organisations will have a professional website, LinkedIn presence, and consistent contact details. If the company has little or no online footprint, that’s a potential red flag.
2️⃣ Verify the Recruiter
Always check that the person contacting you works for the company they claim to represent. Look them up on LinkedIn, confirm their email address, and ensure it matches the company’s domain.
3️⃣ Look for Specifics
Legitimate job descriptions clearly outline responsibilities, requirements, and company information. Posts that are vague or overly broad could be automated or misleading.
4️⃣ Be Wary of Unrealistic Offers
If a role offers an unusually high salary, quick promotions, or exceptional perks for minimal experience, take a step back. Genuine opportunities are competitive, but they’re rarely “too good to be true.”
5️⃣ Avoid Clicking Unknown Links
Scammers often include links that lead to fake websites or forms. Only apply through trusted platforms or verified company portals, and avoid downloading attachments from unknown senders.
6️⃣ Protect Your Personal Information
Never share identification, bank details, or right-to-work documents before an interview or verified job offer. Legitimate agencies and employers follow strict data protection policies and will only collect sensitive information securely.
Stay alert. Stay informed. And most importantly- stay safe in your job search.
