✨ A Simplified Map of Flying Stars Feng Shui ✨

1️⃣ What is Flying Stars?
An ancient formula within Classical Feng Shui that analyses how energy changes over time. It considers both permanent and temporary energies within a property and how they may influence areas such as wellbeing, relationships and prosperity.

2️⃣ Origins
Flying Stars is rooted in ancient Chinese cosmology and Classical Feng Shui systems connected to the I Ching (an ancient Chinese text exploring balance, cycles and change), Luo Shu (an ancient numerical grid linked to directional energy), compass methods and cyclical time cycles linked to the movement of the Plough (Big Dipper) within the Ursa Major constellation.

3️⃣ Numbers 1–9
The system uses nine numbered energies or “stars”, each carrying different elemental qualities, strengths and phases that shift through cycles of time.

4️⃣ Time Cycles
Flying Stars works within changing time cycles, including the 180-year Feng Shui supercycle made up of nine 20-year periods where energies become more timely or untimely.

5️⃣ Bagua & Directions
The Bagua maps energy through the eight cardinal directions plus the centre of the property, with each sector connected to different aspects of life and human experience.

6️⃣ Nature vs Phase
Each star has its own inherent traits, but whether that energy becomes supportive or difficult depends on the current phase and strength of the cycle it is moving through.

7️⃣ Energies
Classical Feng Shui analyses both permanent charts (fixed energetic blueprints) and transitory charts, including annual and monthly star influences that continue to move through the space.

8️⃣ Reading the Stars
A full Flying Stars reading considers the star chart, compass directions, trigrams, floor plan, surrounding environment and the people living within the home to gain deeper human insights.

9️⃣ Practical Goals
The aim is to create greater balance and harmony within a space. Classical Feng Shui uses the Five Element system — 🔥 Fire, 🌍 Earth, ⚙️ Metal, 💧 Water and 🌿 Wood — to help balance and harmonise the energies within a property.

✨ Flying Stars helps us understand not just where we live, but when we live within it.

Traditional Feng Shui observations include:

🚪 Inward-opening doors generally feel more supportive because the body can move forward naturally into a space. Outward-opening doors often require a person to step backwards first, subtly interrupting movement and momentum.

🚪 Right-handed inward openings are traditionally considered smoother because most people naturally enter and move through a space more comfortably from the right side without crossing the body awkwardly.

🚪 Doors that collide or block one another create repeated interruption within the home. Over time, the nervous system begins anticipating obstruction, friction and visual chaos during movement.

🚪 Front doors directly aligned with back doors are believed to accelerate chi too quickly through a property, creating a feeling that energy, attention and movement pass straight through the home rather than settling within it.

🚪 Bedroom doors directly facing bathroom doors are traditionally considered less supportive because the restful energy of the bedroom directly faces the more active draining functions of the bathroom.

🚪 Permanently blocked or unused “dead doors” can create a feeling of unresolved movement within a property. Architecturally, the eye expects access or continuation, but instead meets restriction or stagnation.

🚪 Paired entrance doors create visual balance and openness. When one side remains permanently locked, the symmetry is disrupted and the entrance can subtly feel restricted or incomplete.

🚪 Dutch doors create an interesting psychological message: open at the top, closed at the bottom. They simultaneously communicate welcome and boundary.

🚪 Multiple directly aligned doors can create accelerated visual and physical movement through a property, making it harder for a space to feel calm, contained or grounding.

🚪 Feng Shui also considers the overall balance of a property. Homes that feel visually weighted, compressed or architecturally uneven can subtly affect how stable and comfortable we feel within them.

Many of these observations closely overlap with environmental psychology and instinctive human behaviour.

🔥 How this Fire season may feel for you

We are currently moving through a strong Fire phase.

A Fire season (summer), within Period 9 (2024–2044, a Fire cycle), with additional Fire Horse influences layered in.

On a wider level, strong Fire energy can bring:

• increased visibility and exposure
• rapid spread of information
• emotional intensity and reactivity
• creativity and ideas coming to life
• things being brought into the light, sometimes quickly

🔥 In the Five Element system, Fire does not exist on its own. It interacts with the other elements.

🌱 Wood feeds Fire
⚙️ Fire melts Metal
💧 Water puts out Fire
🌍 Fire produces Earth

These relationships help us understand how the same energy can feel very different from person to person.
We each interact with Fire differently depending on our own elemental nature.

Here is a simple way to understand the energy:

🌱 Wood
Wood feeds Fire. You may feel inspired, but also more easily drained or overextended.

⚙️ Metal
Fire melts Metal. You may feel pressure or intensity, and a need for clarity and boundaries.

💧 Water
Water puts out Fire. You may feel the need to withdraw, cool down or create space.

🌍 Earth
Fire produces Earth. This can support grounding and stability, though too much may feel heavy.

🔥 Fire
Fire meets Fire. This can amplify visibility, creativity and momentum, but may also lead to overheating or burnout if not balanced.

🌿 How to balance strong Fire energy

When Fire becomes too intense, the goal is not to suppress it, but to regulate and balance it.

🌍 Earth dampens Fire
Grounding helps stabilise the energy.

• walking barefoot on the earth
• spending time in nature
• slowing down and creating routine
• surrounding yourself with natural, earthy materials

💧 Water cools Fire
When the energy feels overwhelming, Water helps regulate it quickly.

• being near water or swimming
• taking a bath or shower
• drinking more water
• creating quiet, reflective space

We are designing homes for what we can see, not what we’re living within.

We are now living in spaces layered not only with form, light, and materials, but also with constant electromagnetic activity from the technology that surrounds us.

The World Health Organization (WHO) states that, while current evidence does not confirm adverse health effects from typical low-level exposure, further research is needed, particularly around long-term, cumulative exposure.

Similarly, the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) has classified radiofrequency electromagnetic fields as “possibly carcinogenic” (Group 2B), highlighting the need for continued investigation.

In other words:
we don’t yet have the full picture.

Some studies have explored potential links between electromagnetic exposure and sleep quality, cognitive function, and nervous system response, but findings remain mixed and continue to be studied.

So the conversation isn’t about certainty
it’s about awareness.

From a practical perspective, there are simple ways to reduce unnecessary exposure:
– increasing distance from devices
– switching off wireless systems when not in use
– favouring wired connections where possible

Small, consistent changes over time.

Alongside this, some people choose to introduce supportive technologies within their environment as an additional layer.

I’ve partnered with Somavedic, an always-on device that works with a combination of frequencies, minerals, and metals to create a more coherent field within the space.

Rather than blocking EMFs, it’s designed to support the body in environments of constant exposure, particularly around rest, sleep, and overall energy.

I feel passionate about Somavedic devices, not just for their impressive functionality but also the beautiful aesthetics.

As always, this isn’t about removal
it’s about balance and considered integration.

🌿 Feng Shui didn’t begin with homes. It began with the dead.

Each spring, Chinese communities around the world mark the Qingming Festival by visiting ancestral graves, cleaning the tomb and making offerings to those who came before them.

But beneath this ritual sits something deeper.

Feng Shui was originally developed through observing the relationship between land, time and human life. Early practitioners studied landscapes carefully, selecting burial sites that could support future generations. This was known as Yin Feng Shui.

In Classical practice, tending to ancestral resting places was seen as a way to maintain harmony with the land, support the continuity of family luck, and prevent stagnation in the flow of life. Clearing and caring for the site was understood as restoring the movement of chi, allowing life to move forward with greater ease.

Over time, these same principles evolved into how we position and design our homes. Before it became about interiors, Feng Shui was about placement, timing and the landscape itself.

Qingming is a reminder that Feng Shui is not just about objects. It is about connection. Between past and present. Between people and place. Between Heaven, Earth and human life.

🌸 What threads from the past are still quietly shaping your present?

🌿 A simple way to understand Form School Feng Shui

🚗 Imagine driving a car with no doors, no rear protection and no windscreen. You would feel exposed and uncomfortable.

Now imagine the same car with a strong rear frame, doors on both sides and a clear view ahead. The structure protects you while still allowing you to move forward confidently.

🏡 Form School Feng Shui works in a similar way. A home that has support behind, protection on the sides and open space in front often feels naturally balanced and secure.

☯️ This balance is closely connected to Yin and Yang.

⛰️ Mountains are Yang because they are stable and protective. When a mountain sits behind a property, its strength creates a calmer, more sheltered Yin space at the rear of the home, supporting rest and stability.

🌊 Water is Yin because it moves and gathers energy. When water or open space sits in front of a property, it helps collect and circulate energy, supporting opportunity and activity.

☀️ The traditional model often shows homes facing south. In ancient China this orientation received the most consistent sunlight and warmth and protected homes from colder northern winds. Over time this practical arrangement became associated with vitality, illumination and the Fire element in Feng Shui.

🌳 Today most homes do not sit within perfect mountain and river landscapes. But these same patterns can still appear through trees, buildings, parks, streets and open views.

Sometimes Feng Shui begins simply by stepping outside and asking:

How does the landscape support the place where I live?

🌙 WHY BED PLACEMENT MATTERS

🛏️ In Classical Feng Shui, the bed is one of the most influential pieces of furniture in the home. We spend roughly a third of our lives there, which means the bedroom becomes a place where the body, mind and environment interact for long periods each night.

🌿 Many of the traditional guidelines around bed placement developed from centuries of observation. They reflect an understanding that while we sleep, the body is particularly sensitive to its surroundings.

Light, airflow, structural weight, sound and movement all register in subtle ways, even when we are not consciously aware of them.

🏡 This is one of the reasons Feng Shui places such importance on creating a bedroom that feels stable, protected and calm.

🪞 Mirrors carry an especially interesting story.

In Chinese culture, mirrors were historically believed to interact with energy, capable of reflecting or redirecting forces within a space. Feng Shui uses mirrors intentionally for this reason, sometimes to expand light or symbolically move chi.

🌍 Beyond Feng Shui, mirrors have long been surrounded by symbolism. In parts of Europe, mirrors were traditionally covered after a death in the household, based on the belief that the soul could become trapped within the reflection. In other traditions, mirrors were seen as gateways between the physical and spiritual worlds.

✨ Whether interpreted symbolically or psychologically, reflections introduce movement and visual stimulation, which can subtly activate awareness in a room meant for rest.

For this reason, Feng Shui traditionally advises avoiding mirrors that directly face the bed.

It is a reminder that good Feng Shui is not only about superstition or science, but about observing how humans respond to the environments they inhabit.

🏡 Preparing a property for sale is not just about presentation. It is about perception and the senses.

✨ When a space appears neglected, even subtly, it can imply that prosperity has stalled. Humans associate care with growth. The subconscious question becomes: is this a space where time, money and wellbeing flow easily? Light, upkeep and movement communicate vitality.

🧠 Buyers begin forming judgments the moment they reach the front of the property. Before they step inside, their nervous system is scanning for care, light and maintenance. That first impression anchors everything that follows.

🚪 Stand outside your own home as if you have never seen it before. Where do your eyes dart first?

👀 Humans instinctively scan for contrast. If the eye lands on clutter, damage or darkness, that becomes the subconscious anchor. If it lands on light and openness, the tone shifts immediately.

🌬️ Before every viewing, air the property thoroughly. Open all windows and internal doors. Create cross-ventilation. Fresh air reduces indoor CO₂, shifts odours and clears the build-up left by daily living and previous visitors. A breathable home feels alive.

🌿 Scent matters more than most realise. Occupants adapt to a home’s smell. Buyers do not. Smell bypasses logic and connects directly to memory and emotion. Uplifting familiarity makes us feel at ease.

🍊 If using fragrance, keep it restrained. A few drops of a fresh essential oil can gently elevate mood. Avoid heavy or artificial scents that overwhelm. The goal is neutrality with freshness. A home should smell like air and light, not effort.

🔥 If the home has experienced conflict, illness, loss or upheaval, address it intentionally. Smoke clearing has been used for thousands of years to mark transition and reset atmosphere. It introduces movement and focused intention, interrupting residual patterns and restoring neutrality before the property changes hands.

🔑 Selling is a transfer of stewardship. Prepare the space not only to be seen, but to be sensed. A property should not simply look ready. It should feel ready.

🧠 As we age, we are often told “use it or lose it.” Muscle fibres weaken without load, neural pathways strengthen through repetition, and circulation improves with movement. The body maintains vitality through engagement.

🏠 Homes are not so different. A room that is rarely opened or moved through can begin to feel flat over time. Not because something dramatic has occurred, but because vitality depends on exchange.

🌬️ Air needs to circulate, light needs to travel, and surfaces need subtle disturbance. Space responds to presence.

🫁 From a physiological perspective, stagnant environments can influence us before we consciously register it. Elevated indoor CO₂ can reduce alertness, low light affects circadian rhythm and serotonin regulation, and still air changes how a room is perceived. The body often senses it first.

🌿 Feng Shui has long observed that circulation sustains life. When movement drops, responsiveness drops. A home can become energetically underused in the same way an untrained muscle becomes weaker.

✨ The remedy is rarely dramatic. It is participation. Use the room, shift something, introduce light, sound or living elements, and allow circulation to return.

🌞 Homes, like bodies, maintain vitality through interaction.

🔥 Period 9 & The Rise of Feminine Leadership

There comes a point in many women’s lives when we realise we are not going back.

Not back to smaller versions of ourselves.
Not back to roles that no longer fit.

In Classical Feng Shui we entered Period 9 in 2024, a 20-year Fire cycle linked with visibility, perception, and recognition. Each Feng Shui period carries a cultural signature. The previous 20 years favoured youthful male energy, something we saw clearly in the rise of tech culture and young male leadership.

Period 9 marks a shift.

Across many traditional cultures, women were once revered for lived experience. Age was not something to hide. It was authority. Wisdom was expected to grow with time, and middle age was when women stepped into their most respected roles.

Fire energy illuminates what was hidden and brings emotional and intuitive intelligence to the forefront. Culturally, this aligns with a style of leadership rooted in perception, experience, and clarity rather than youth. It feels as though the middle-aged woman is stepping back onto the main stage.

I came into Feng Shui in my late forties, right on the edge of this transition. At the time it felt personal. Now I see it as timing. Period 9 is not abstract. It lands in real lives.

Many women entering midlife carry decades of experience and far less interest in pretending. That combination aligns powerfully with the energy of this era.

This is what the new cycle looks like in practice.

My first blog explores why this shift matters and why so many women feel a quiet calling forward right now.
