Moving AI agents from impressive prototypes into secure, reliable production isn't a model problem - it's an engineering and platform problem.

Join Scale Factory Technical Director Mike Mead and Principal Consultant Steve Dodd on Tuesday 15th September at 1:30 PM BST for our upcoming live webinar: Building Production-Ready AI Agents with Amazon Bedrock AgentCore.

We’ll explore how to evaluate fully managed Amazon Bedrock agents against modular AgentCore components, helping you balance architectural control, governance, and rapid deployment without taking on unnecessary risk.

Next week, we’re heading to the IDC AI & Data Summit.
Unlocking real value from your data shouldn't mean creating operational bottlenecks or compromising governance. Catch Scale Factory Technical Director Mike Mead on 10th September at 12:25 PM as he breaks down how to move from traditional BI bottlenecks to secure, self-service analytics using Amazon QuickSight.
Heading to the event? Drop us a message or catch us after the session—we’d love to connect.

Keeping a human “in the loop” means very little if that person cannot see how a decision was made, challenge it properly or overturn it without consequence.

As AI agents take on more routine ex*****on, businesses need to think carefully about the work left for people and the authority they have over the systems they oversee.

Ash Gawthorp, our CTO, explores this in his latest article for NODE. He looks at why human judgement should be focused on high-stakes decisions and edge cases, how roles may shift towards governing and improving AI systems, and why transparency is essential if organisations expect people to carry real accountability.

Gartner predicts that over 40% of agentic AI projects will be cancelled by the end of 2027.

Read that again. Nearly half.

Here's the uncomfortable truth: most agentic AI projects collapse long before deployment. They chase hype instead of fundamentals. They're built on fragmented data that no agent can reason across. They lack a single owner with the authority to make decisions and see them through.

The leaders who succeed will do the unglamorous work first. Clean, connected data. Clear ownership. A vision that ties every use case to real business value, rather than a shiny demo.

Agentic AI won't reward the fastest movers. It'll reward the ones who built the right foundations.

So ask yourself honestly: is your organisation ready to scale AI, or just ready to talk about it?

Most businesses have started with AI. Few have done anything meaningful with it.

According to the ONS, the average AI-adopting business uses just 1.6 technologies. That's a modest uptick from 1.4 in late 2023 , and it tells you everything about where most organisations actually are.

Getting started is easy, but moving beyond pilots and proof-of-concepts to AI that's genuinely embedded in how the business operates is the real challenge.

That requires three things most organisations haven't yet put in place:

1. A unified AI strategy that goes beyond department-by-department experimentation
2. Clear governance so teams know what they can build, buy, and deploy — and when
3. A commitment to operational change, not just technology adoption

Bridging the gap between AI excitement and actual business impact means asking harder questions:

Is this integrated with real workflows?
Does it have the data quality to be reliable?
Who owns it when something goes wrong?

AI won't deliver on its potential through enthusiasm alone. The organisations that pull ahead will be the ones that treat it as an infrastructure problem, not a features race.

A successful AI demo does not mean a business is ready to run it in production.

Ash Gawthorp, CTO at Scale Factory, explores in his latest article for ChannelPro (https://bit.ly/4q424b2) why AI pilots often stall when they meet messy data, difficult integrations, unclear ownership and the realities of ongoing support.

Selecting the model is often the easier part. The harder work is making AI useful, trusted and measurable long after the demo ends.
